on 247 it say Patrick Porter will announce his decision January 10th but he will take an official here January17th, does anybody know what is up with that?

Jameis is gone after next year. Frank will be redshirted if he goes to Florida St and never block for Jameis. Florida St has 3 OTs signed for this year plus an OG and a C. Reality sets in after the sales pitch.

Maybe he is going to play defense.

In my opinion, offer anybody who is an upgrade at that position. If a 3 star CB is an upgrade over our depth, then he is a huge get. Most kids improve, so these guys can become solid corners. As far as WR, we should we glad with who we get. Eric Decker was a 2 star, or a no star, and look how he turned out.

Frank is a smart kid. I suspect he is close to a decision. I just dont think its Florida State. He was blown away when he did his official here. As far as the corners go, i think itll be James and Mims. James is also a very good returner, and i just like Mims better at this point.

Frank is set to take an official to Wisconsin on January 24th, so unless something changes I think this is going towards the last week or so.

I should have been more clear. Frank is gonna take all his visits, no doubt. But i think its a matter of comparison right now. Not saying he is coming to the Gophers for sure, but i honesly think he is leaning towards us right now.

I think he's leaning towards us too, but I think he'll take all the time he has.

Florida State is a tough school to recruit against right now for obvious reasons. It's an amazingly fun school and it's probably the "it" program this season with the "it" player. I understand that Winston isn't going to be there after next season and all of that, but the entire FSU experience had to leave an impression with Ragnow. I hope we land him, I'm just not super confident.

Stelter is already up to around 270 I believe. Almost a guarantee he'll end up at DT.

270lbs is as big as some of our other DT's already. As I understand it the staff likes him at DT. Not at NT, the bigger, run stopping guy, but at the other more mobile DT position.

Do we play a NT? We seem to only play relatively athletic "up field" type of DTs. I could be wrong, but the only DT who seems like a NT is Legania and he doesn't see the field much.

Stetler was impressive in the Prep Bowl.

Has anyone actually confirmed that Matilus has indeed moved to FB?

Yes. Ryan Burns has confirmed from team sources that Matilus practiced as the Scout Team RB, NOT FB the entire season and that the staff is very impressed with his physicality at the position.

Pretty sure RoJo and Bottecelli were the main NT's (or whatever you want to call it) with Shede and Ekpe being the more mobile, "up field" DT's. This is my understanding, not a fact.

Interesting. Thanks for posting. I wonder if the staff moved him there so he could better simulate big backs like Weisman and Zwinak? That would make sense.

I'd imagine it's what you said and that B. Edwards was injured. Either way it means Matilus spent a year away from the LB position where he was already being leapfrogged by younger and less experienced players so I think it's safe to assume he won't seriously be in the mix at LB next season, if at all. Also, for clarification I wasn't saying will be the FB next season, just saying he could be the FB next season. Someone's got to win the job, why not Matilus?

Elmore will be a DE, it's the position he is better at.

Melvin Holland Jr picked up a Rutgers offer this weekend. I hadn't noticed that BC offer before either.

This Holland kid is quickly becoming one of my favorite recruits. These big, athletic WRs would be an awesome addition to the Gophers offense. Holland, Baker and Gentry, go get em coach.

Elmore wants to be a TE, is a great TE, and will be given every chance to succeed there before moving him will be considered.
