I see Mike Leach is the latest to offer the Green twins. Nick Harris the longhorns contributor appears to be the only one who has offered a crystal ball so far and it is for us, he is 41/42 on predictions all time if that means anything.

The Auburn win and an 11-2 season gets the Gophers some attention alright.

How big will the 2021 Recruiting Class be? I have to think it will be a lot smaller.

Depends on how many players end up transferring or leaving for the NFL early. My expectation is a class in the 20ish range, probably not a full 25.

Or more generally put, the number of players that leave the program for any reason prior to exhausting their eligibility in their fifth or greater year in the program.

In order to bring in 25 initial counters every spring, you need 125 (5*25) - 85 = 40 additional players over the four classes ahead of the new signing class to have left the program since they signed, because of a myriad of reasons. (and that isn't counting guys who stay longer than five years, like Witham for 2020 as an example)

Just to clarify, Witham is a redshirt senior in 2020, right? So upcoming will be his fifth year

His first crystal ball prediction.

Upcoming will be his 6th year.

He was in the same recruiting class as the Huffs, Femi-Cole, Winston, and Shannon Brooks.

Getting both Greens will certainly make the 21 class rankings look nice, on paper.

Good company to be in. Gotta think Bateman coming up here and blowing up has had some impact in him taking a hard look at us as an option. Would be awesome to snag another elite receiver from Georgia.

From the Story:
The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Smith's top six consists of Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, Kentucky, Minnesota and Colorado.

Reading the tea leaves - if we offered Wednesday & immediately made his top six, I assume there's been some promising behind the scenes activity. Fingers crossed!

In the game the announcers talked about him and how well he did holding his own against the "big boys" and how he represented himself well.

One last follow up: Bartch made Dane Brugler's list, on the Athletic website, of 14 players who helped themselves the most at the Senior Bowl.

"Ben Bartch, OT, St. John’s (Minn.) (6-6, 308)
It is impossible to understate the uptick in competition from Division III to the competition in Mobile this week. But Bartch not only looked like he belonged, but he was also arguably the highest-performing offensive tackle throughout the week. The former tight end is very light on his feet and was rarely stressed by edge speed. That athleticism was expected, but I was eager to see how he would hold up from a power perspective, and he exceeded expectations with his upper-body and hand strength. A Day 3 pick coming into the week, Bartch will now receive top-100 consideration from NFL teams."

Looks like both the Ducks and the Beavers failed to close the Oregon borders on that guy.

With McGill moving to the 2021 class and Kaliakmanis committed how many receivers are we going to take? The Greens and Smith would make five if it happens. With a small class something has to give.

Based on the pattern I'm seeing our WR policy is:

Some of those WR could end up playing DB. But I am all for bringing in as many talented athletes as we can.

Yeah my assumption on what seems like a lot of WRs is that some will move around to other positions as time goes on and competition shakes out.

Love to know how many WR recruits were successfully moved to CB or Safety over the years. We can say “bring in as many athletes as possible” but reality is they’re for the most part taking up valuable scholarships but not getting or giving much in return if they aren’t good enough to make the 3-deep.

Hell I'm skeptical of the "athlete" or "project guy" stuff in general... but it seems to be PJ's thing and worked for him, and not THAT unusual in CFB, at least as far as making the transition early on.

My guess is a few of the younger WRs on the roster, who haven't played much, aren't quite what the staff thought they could be.

He’s visited Cal and Minnesota and says he’s done with visits for now.

“"I’m looking for academics, a strong football team and culture, and location," he said.”

Apparently, we shouldn’t read too much into in-state kids not having a offer, because the staff had been in constant contact with him for awhile.

It feels like PJ and his staff do nothing but recruit, recruit, recrui! We know PJ never sleeps. I've never sensed or felt this about all the previous Gopher couches.

When someone decommits, they get a replacement commitment almost immediately.

My hunch is that the 2021 Class will be filled by the Summer Barbecue. How many will be in the 2021 Class? 17?
