Go Gophers!!

So any new visitors for the scrimmage? Will John Kelly be here today is his visit in a couple of days? Want to answer that Pig Man or Costa?

Kelly's visit is scheduled for the 12th-17th. Haven't seen anything saying that that isn't still the plan. No new visitors announced that I'm aware of.

Go Gophers!!

I'm beginning to worry that he is a goner. It all starts with a list, then a helmet like OSU comes in and sweeps the likes of Grant Schmidt from us. There is no fair play in recruiting. We need both him and Quinn Oseland to beef up our OL.

If we get Quinn we are likely done at OL

You think we would pull Drayton scholarship if we get Oseland? The coaches have said they are taking 4-5 O-lineman this year, not 3-4 plus getting the top in-state O-lineman is always a priority and they can always make room for more much more so than any other position it seems. And he has good position versatility.

Just going off what Ryan Burns has said. The staff isn't going to let another Ragnow situation happen.

The point being that Minnesota isn't holding a spot for Carlberg. His offer is contingent on availability, just like everyone else.

I don't doubt what you've heard, but the gopher's aren't nearly good enough or deep enough to tell a "high 3*" to go pound sand.

Worse case Kill changes offer to DT. There is always room for very good players.

Nope, at this point the staff is not willing to offer him as anything other than an OL.

We're a lot better than I thought then. I should buy tickets to the B1G championship game and the national playoffs.

Yep, that's exactly what that means. Or, ya know, maybe they just feel good with the other OL recruits and are sending a message that a scholarship offer to the University of Minnesota won't always be there.

What was Ragnows situation?

Ragnow strung the Gophers 'til the very last moment before NSD when Bret Enema's entourage swooped down to MN and told him linemen are treated like royalty. They get to fly first class everywhere. They made it sound like the NFL is guaranteed if he goes to Arkansas. I hope he likes the scenery down there.

He broke our hearts.

They are not going to be burned waiting for another homer this time around.

There is no right or wrong answer here, only opinions. My opinion is hell no, we would not pull his offer. He insists he wants to play DL, we want him as OL only. If he wanted to commit as an OL, we would take him, even with Oselund, imo. What we're not going to do is expend a ton of resources on him if Oselund commits. Kill has given Carlberg he full tour. Ball's in Carlberg's court now. If he wants to be a Gopher, it will be on Kill's terms.

Just my opinion but you would think that if he is good enough for MSU on defense than he would be good enough for us. Especially since our coaches always talk about trying to emulate Dantonio's squad and particularly his defense. Also I don't see how we would take Andrew Stelter and start Boticelli for 3 years while not even let Carlberg commit as a DT. I think he will be better than either of them if ends up playing D in college.

That was sarcasm P.M.
It just stuns me that we're too good for a high 3.

I understand the Ragnow situation and agree with not going through it again.

Hopefully that doesn't push other highly rated local kids away.

Maybe Costa Rican Gophers viewpoint is a better one. Would we tell Carlburg no if he wanted to commit? I would say it probably would depend on the rest of the class and if there is any room that they are willing to sacrifice to take another OL. All I know for certain I'd that Burns says that if we land Oseland he believes were done with the OL. All of this is probably moot as I don't feel like we have much of a shot at Drayton, just my opinion tho.

I think if Drayton wanted to commit later in the process , they would definitely take it. That being said, i don't think they would recruit him hard. Kill has said he only wants players that want to be here.

It really hurt to miss the good local kids when we were only getting MAC left overs from out of state. Kill is bringing in out of state talent that are difference makers now. Kill knows how to recruit in order to build a competitive program better than Rivals, better than Scout, better than 247, better than Brewster, better than Mason, AND better than me. I'll be satisfied regardless of how it plays out with Drayton.

The staff has evaluated him extensively & feel his ceiling is much higher as an OL. They don't care what MSU thinks. Trust the staff.

I agree that his ceiling his higher on the O-line and I do trust the staff but I also trust MSU’s defensive staff more. I guess what I’m saying is that since Oregon and MSU, two much more successful programs particularly MSU on D, already have enough linemen they changed their offer to D-line and I don’t see why we wouldn’t if we get enough O-lineman.
