Two interesting comments from Matt H. in the Daily Gopher Quinn Oseland Scroll of the Sworn regarding Carlberg

Highly debatable.

One thing I do know: Minnesota is not recruiting him as one. And between Oseland and Carlberg, Oseland was higher on the board.

Another thing inferred: Oregon and Michigan State offered as a OT initially. Oregon filled up at OT, then starting looking at Carlberg at his preferred DT position. I say looking, because if that offer translated over, he (probably) would have committed on his visit to Eugene.”

Waiting for real steam that he likes a school and said coaches legitimately view him as a BCS caliber DT, at which point I’ll make the switch.

Definitely sentiment out there that schools aren’t being honest with Carlberg when they tell him he can stay at DT. I think the situation is analogous to John Kelly, who we offered as a running back but other schools, including MSU, thought of him as a DB. I think he got the hint, and understands where his future lies, so even the Gophers view him as a DB prospect now."

Can’t you say the same thing about MSU and Carlberg though? That is pure speculation on GopherinPhilly’s part anyway.

Apparently Carlberg told Kyle Goblirsch of 247 2 days ago that MSU is recruiting him as an offensive lineman.

Oseland has a prototypical frame. He's a big kid who uses that size to move bodies in the run game. He moves his feet well and shows good leg drive. In pass protection, he has a solid base and a strong punch. He can still improve overall quickness and flexibility, but does a solid job when asked to get into space and block on the move. He will come into college with solid technique already.

As I understand regarding Kelly, is that he and his mother will be driving up here after his practice today. Not expected to really meet anyone/do anything until tomorrow morning.

Burns said on GI radio that he is driving up here tonight and will visit for the weekend. He also said that he has visited MSU about 10 times but still hasn’t committed which leads him to believe that he is favoring us and he called him “the Drayton Carlberg of Michigan.” Burns also said that Kelly’s best visit of his recruiting process was when he came here for the spring game.

That seemed to be what Burnsie was talking about on the GI Radio program last week. I'm hoping he doesn't flip, but 17/18 year olds often do.

I think Kelly is still hoping for a rb offer, and if he doesn't get it he'll commit to MSU.
