This article was written a year ago, so can we assume Russell stayed in JUCO one more year and would now have 2 years of eligibility left?
Jack Lynn went from the future at ILB, to not playing at all, to potentially being usurpsed by a JUCO.
That said, Damien Wilson will be here for another year, so unless Mr. Russell is a SO JUCO or he can play WILL, I'm not sure why he'd come here to sit for a year.
I was always surprised that Lynn, a kid who played OLB and WR in high school, suddenly found himself as a Big Ten MLB as a freshman.
My guess would be that Wipson ends up at MLB, Lynn slides outside, and Mr. Russell takes over at the strong side for Hill next year. Other than Wilson, who do we have on the current roster that's ready to be an every down LB next year?
campbell?
Anyone who thinks Kill's absence isn't hurting recruiting is delusional
If you can show me any evidence that it is hurting recruiting I would love to hear it?
If not having a head coach doesn't hurt us on gameday and it doesn't hurt us in recruiting, I'm really starting to wonder why we pay millions of dollars to have a head coach at all.If you can show me any evidence that it is hurting recruiting I would love to hear it?

Nobody has any idea what this means. That's the problem.having a head coach temporarily on leave.

Oh ok.Teague and Claeys have said they expect him back soon.
Oh ok.
If you didn't know anybody, eh?You sure like to cast doubt ever opportunity you get. If I didn't know anybody I would say that you didn't like coach Kill.![]()
My mistake. I meant to type "If I didn't know you I would say that you didn't like coach Kill."If you didn't know anybody, eh?

Per a quote from a Ryan Burns article on GI, Christian Russell is probably down to Minnesota, Tennessee and Kentucky with Minnesota on top currently. He says that a Minnesota offer would be hard to turn down.
Why haven't we offered?
He is scheduled for an official visit here on November 22nd. If they are going to make an offer to him I expect it will happen at that time.

"Russell enrolled at East Mississippi last January and remained there through two sessions of summer school. According to Jones, he's produced a grade point average of "around 3.0 or 2.9'' and is on schedule to receive his associate degree in arts in December.
Earning the diploma will make Russell eligible to transfer to a four-year program, where he'll have three years of eligibility."
