Wouldn't he go to college in Canada then?

Exactly! You seem to know your apples. I suspect you're the apple of somebodies eye. And besides Washington Red Delicious apples have no taste.

He has taken as many if not more snaps at LB as he has at FB.

You might want to re-read what was said about him on offense. It was at RUNNING BACK not fullback. He was used on scout to simulate big, physical running backs (ala Williams) and not a fullback.

We have our new Alex Daniels.

FWIW, in an interview with Steven Richardson by GI Richardson said that Craig James was "talking about committing" during the visit this weekend. Hard to imagine him not becoming a Gopher.

I think James would be a huge asset to the program. Looks to be a very promising cover corner and that is key in Claeys' scheme.

Ryan Burns is reporting that the USF Rivals guys believe Demetrius Hill will commit to USF within the hour. I said I thought he'd land at any of his top choices except USF since Mom didn't trip with him, Mom fell in love with Kill and Co on their in-home visit, SoFla is so far from home and Hill didn't seem to have any good reasons to like it except the weather. Ooops.

He's going to play for a 2-10 team that plays in an empty pro stadium, in a dog crap conference against teams like Memphis, SMU, UCF, East Carolina and Tulsa. Enjoy the palm trees bro.

Bummer... I think the signing of Roland Johnson two years ago turned out huge and was hoping this would have had a similar boost to the defensive end depth.

It was just announced today at Aaron Lynch, stud DE for USF (FL native and transfer from Notre Dame) is declaring for the draft. I'm guessing that Taggart was really pushing to Hill that he could step right into Lynch's old spot and get tons of PT. I think he would've gotten a ton of PT here as well (and for a much better team), but I doubt Kill and Co. were promising him anything, and Taggart probably was/is.

Yeah if you're a JUCO your top 5 concerns should all be about playing time and exposure since you only have two years to get your name out there. Exposure won't be the same but you've got to figure he'll get ample playing time. Makes sense.

Also I'm glad to see we're incorporating more apple talk into our discussions here.

Turns out one of his credits won't transfer so he can't graduate in December as planned. What that means is he wouldn't be around until Fall practice. As a Juco with only 2 years to play and multiple experienced players ahead of you on the depth chart you need every edge possible.

Being from Florida, Matilus likely knows nothing about apples, something that will hurt him in the competition to be starting FB.

Bad day for us in the recruiting world. I'm getting a little nervous about Jones...

It's not like we are comparing apples to oranges here fellas.

Do we have any chance at Chris Slayton? Seems like he could be a DE target that we've already offered.

So we must have cooled on him :).

Extremely quick but small and doesn't have great breakaway speed. Would probably be a scat back/slot WR type and kick returner. Another interesting under-the-radar type find by the staff.

Looks like he's teammates with Tegray Scales, who seems to be a pretty highly regarded LB. Maybe a package deal?

all big ten punt returner, those jukes are arguably better then Jeff Jones, but to me the bigger plus in getting this guy would be increasing the chance of landing 4 star LB Tegray Scales, they both play for Colerain

I don't watch a whole lot of film on high school football players but that film on Cook was very impressive. It's one thing to make them miss but they weren't even touching him on his cuts.

I kept hearing Chris Berman "WHOOP! WHOOP!" watching that kid. I was laughing out loud at those insane cuts. Amazing footwork. Great burst. Small, not elite speed...But interesting. Poor mans Jacquizz Rodgers? I thoroughly enjoyed watching the tiny Rodgers brothers destroy USC during their time at Oregon State. I'll leave it to kill and co on whether this Kelvin Cook can make it in the big 10. I say give him a shot.

Jeff jones senior year hudl. Curiously viewed only 52 times. After viewing both reels Cook appears to be a poor mans Jeff jones but could be influenced by level of competition. Kelvin cook's high school is supposedly top 25 in the nation (Colerain).

Cook is electric, but Jones clearly has better size and speed combination for Big 10. Really hope we can keep him.

Yeah, Jones has enough size and power to run between the tackles in college. Cook looks more like a jet sweep and bubble screen type player. I could see the staff adding 2 RB's like Jeff Jones and Rodney Smith and also a scat back like Cook. For a long time I thought that player would be Deron Thompson, but it seems like the staff has cooled on him for whatever reason.
