Gary Anderson is leaving Wisconsin for Oregon State...

My badger roommate's reaction. I got to break the news to him.

Buckyville is a total ****show right now and I'm loving every second of it.

The fans are so delusional. They are all acting like they never liked him anyways. It MUST sting to have your coach bolt twice in 2 years. Especially for jobs which are no better or probably worse.

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel speculates on Paul Chryst.

“My goal would be to have somebody in place before the bowl game,” Alvarez said Wednesday afternoon during a news conference in the media room at Camp Randall Stadium. “I promised them (players) our program will not take a step back. We will replace coach Andersen with another excellent coach and staff.”One potential replacement for Andersen who is sure to draw attention is former UW offensive coordinator Paul Chryst, who is in his third season as head coach at Pittsburgh.

“I thought Paul would surface here or Nebraska,” a source close to the UW program said. “What did you think when he didn’t take the Nebraska job?

“I think Paul knew this was in play.”

Riley and Chryst have coached together in the NFL and in college and are close friends.

According to Alvarez, the seniors requested he coach the team in the bowl game. That scenario played out in 2012 after Bret Bielema bolted for Arkansas, three days after UW’s 70-31 victory over Nebraska in the Big Ten title game.

Alvarez served as interim head coach and UW suffered a 20-14 loss to Stanford in the Rose Bowl.

“I told them I’d make up my mind tonight," said Alvaerz, who added the assistants will remain with the team through the bowl game. “I told them I was very flattered that they asked me to do that because is about the kids. I’ll definitely consider that.”.

This is excellent because obviously turnover causes chaos at any program and the potential is there for them to hire a bad coach (Andersen seemed like a good one) and additionally there is the short term possibility that their recruiting class falls apart.

But, one thing stinks. Compared to BB, Andersen seemed like a classy guy. Yes, the axe thing was weird but it seemed to me he and Kill genuinely respected each other and I got the sense he respected our program. Here's to hoping they don't bring in a successful, d-bag coach that goes for 2 because the card says so.

I haven't been to Buckyville yet, but I'm gonna head over there now. I'm expecting to see a lot of "He was never a good fit here anyway" sort of posts.

Maybe Anderson was shown the door. They might be giving him a graceful exit.

Interestingly in the press conference today Alvarez had he sounded surprised but clearly not upset. When Bielema left he was surprised and he was pissed.

Andersen personally called and told him. May have been more respect there. Alvarez has a huge ego, hell he said his phone is ringing off the hook.

It is the beginning of the end which is fantastic. To add insult to injury you know their basketball team will choke and not make the final four. All seems to be well with the world.

They've gotten too used to winning national championships. This was bound to happen.

Yeah but I don't think he's interested in Tim Brewster no matter haw many times he calls
.

Bielema seemed to respect Kill though. He definitely did not respect Brewster.

Kill took some good natured jabbing early on when he talked about his friendship with B.B. Brett was quoted saying similar things when Kill was hired.

Kill went 4-5 in playoff games while coaching at Southern Illinois and 0-2 in bowl games with Northern Illinois. His head coaching career started at Saginaw Valley State in 1994 and went through Emporia State and Southern Illinois before he landed at Northern.
''Played hard, physical, I was cheering for him all the way this year because I know him very well,'' Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema said. ''He plays a Big Ten style of football. Line up, play physical, play hard. He's a good coach.''

He's had a few health problems in the past, including a bout with kidney cancer in 2005 at Southern Illinois. He also was hospitalized for dehydration in September, but returned in time to attend the Huskies' 28-22 loss to Illinois.

''He's a very true guy. A very, very good football coach,'' Bielema said. ''He's won everywhere he's gone. I called him this year because I knew he probably wasn't paying attention to his doctor's orders, and I said, 'Please listen to the doctors.' I'm excited if it is true for him to come into the league. He's a tremendous ball coach.''

Pitt better sign Paul Chryst to a long term extension in the next day or so, otherwise my guess is that he'll be heading to Madison real soon. Stylistically, it would be just like BA coaching again.

Chryst is still pretty pissed that he got passed over for BigEnema. My buddy (high school friend of Chryst) says he isn't going anywhere.

Chryst isn't exactly lighting it up at Pitt, but maybe there's more to that. I'll admit I don't follow Pitt football very closely.

Then why not hire him two years ago when BigEnema left? It's not like 2 years turned him from a taboo candidate to a sure thing.

And don't read this that I'm trying to jump down your throat or anything; just trying to put my perspective out there, and it appeared to mesh well with what you were writing.

Please stop the Tim Brewster to Wisconsin nonsense. You act like Barry Alvarez doesn't know football. He picked a coach who kicked our ass two straight years, you really think he's going to hire a sh!tty coach??? Let's just hope for a coach not as good as Andersen!

I'm pretty sure it was all tongue in cheek.
