Gary Anderson is leaving Wisconsin for Oregon State...

You're lying to yourself and everyone else. A coach leaving after 2 years, with no public strikes against him, to a less prestigious school, is never good. You can tell yourself you are better off because he was "weird" or "quirky", but something very fishy is going on in Madison.

Or maybe nothing is "very fishy" and the guy simply wanted to move his family back out west.

Wish Andersen was staying, but since he's decided to leave...I bet Glen Mason is still hoping for that phone to ring!

In all seriousness, if Alvarez hires Bevell he's probably upgraded from Andersen.

Odd. I vaguely remember reading something in the national press at mid-season insinuating that Andersen was not particularly comfortable with the expectations/football culture in Madison. I thought it odd at the time and I honestly can't remember where I read it (or, at my age, if I only imagined it).

Thing I did notice is that Wisconsin's 2015 recruiting class doesn't look as strong as their recent classes.

Interesting talk out here - word is that Anderson has had increasing issues with BA (no surprise). Came to a head recently with Kill-like request to raise the asst coaches pay to market value - BA told him to pound sand and the assts could find another job if they wanted. BA also gave Anderson no say in scheduling etc. I think Beaver fans are probably happy and surprised- I thought they'd have to go to the minor leagues for a coach so win-win for OSU and My Gophers (sorry Wren).

I know the perfect guy for the job.

Are they HUNGRY OR STARVING???

My first reaction was what does Gaelin Elmore think?

First of all, hahahahahahahahahahaha, a coach just stepped up from Wisconsin to the third best OSU football program in the country.

Second of all, huge pressure for the axe game next year. Kill better be able to beat our rival when the game is at home, coming off our best season in over a decade, with them losing their best player and coach.

I'm hoping that Anderson take Aranda with him. I'm thinking that Riley to Nebraska and Anderson to Oregon State works out as a win/win for us.

Can we get Iowa to fire Ferentz now? Of course Iowa fans think that they are gonna get Bob Stoops to come coach there

someone hit wiki already. on the internet, must be true

Check out these reactions from Badgers:

Clearly coaching with Alvaraz (or his statue) over your shoulder is no picnic or their coach wouldn't have just high-tailed it for a much worse job. I hardly see Kill groveling for Barry's input. Besides there are some things you just don't do, and this would be one of them.

It's Wisconsin. Ed Gien and Jeff Dahmer set the bar extremely low.

My favorite part will be how much behind the scenes gossip is going to come out.
I remember when Bert coached, they all loved him. When he left, we heard what a drunken ass he was around Madtown and nobody liked him.

There is going to be some serious gossiping coming out of Madison.

This is all done to fully awaken the sleeping giant named the Minnesota Golden Gophers. This is what the B1G wanted and has been in the works for years.

1. It started in 2009 when Ferentz signed a lifetime contract with an impossible buyout, dooming Iowa to mediocrity.
2. Nebraska joins the B1G. This was the original way the B1G was going to look stronger, but quickly realized recruits don't want to live in Lincoln, NE anymore.
3. Next Minnesota hired what was perceived to be their 5th choice for head coach: Jerry Kill. The B1G knew Maturi would botch another coaching search, and hand selected Kill for Minnesota. The B1G also knew Jerry's resemblance to Goldy Gopher would make him a perfect fit.
4. Brett Bulimia feels left out and leaves Wisconsin to coach Arkansas, the mascot he most closely resembles.
5. B1G forces Alvarez to hire Gary Andersen, who wants to completely change the offense that has been Wisconsin's identity for the last 20 years.
6. The B1G adds Maryland and Rutgers not for monetary purposes, but to have an excuse to swap a rising Michigan St. team with a falling Wisconsin team, and move the two worst B1G teams Illinois and Purdue to the west.
7. B1G forces Nebraska to fire a 9 win coach and hire a 60 year old coach who went 5-7 this year to further cement their fall to mediocrity.
8. Gary Anderson grows tired of running coaching strategies through a Barry Alvarez statue in the corner of his office, and the B1G urges him to take the only decent job opening available: Oregon State.

This all leads us back to Minnesota being setup to win the B1G west for the next 4-6 years, cementing the Gophers as the new powerhouse in the west. Norwood Teague knew this all along, and knew that three years from now, after 3 consecutive west titles, the season ticket increase would be justified.

Yaaaaa Hooooooooooooooo!

This Beaver now believes in Santa again. What a week. FWIW, you all are going to love Mark Banker's D at Nebraska. Husker fans................not so much.

I have a friend in the Badger athletic department and he said after their loss to Northwestern that there was going to be some less than flattering things that would come out after the season regarding the program...supposedly their was disfunction at all corners and he did not think Anderson would be back next year. Guess he was right on and I am guessing more of the story will be coming out

Less than flattering? What is flattering about that program? Trash.

Adam Rittenberg @ESPNRittenberg
Wisconsin needs to take hard look in mirror. Two coaches leaving for less prestigious jobs.

Regardless of the facts, this perception will make this tough.
Depends who's defining.

I would put chances of Kill to Wisconsin at right around zero.

i got to hang around Frank Broyles a bit when he was Arkansas' AD and towards the end of his career. Everyone called him Coach. I think it's a title of respect

You're right. This isn't unusual. Pretty much all of Alvarez's adult life was as "coach." Lots of guys after they're "retired" are still called "coach" or "doc."

So sad! Too bad Lance Leipold is off the market.
