Gary Anderson is leaving Wisconsin for Oregon State...

My guess is that Barry has a certain way he wants the team run and has a lot of input. It struck me that Anderson referred to him as "coach" Alvarez and not "Athletic Director" Alvarez.

This.

Wisconsin needs to take hard look in mirror. Two coaches leaving for less prestigious jobs.

Regardless of the facts, this perception will make this tough.

Lets start poaching recruits!

Kick them while they're down!

I know the perfect guy for the job.

It is official.

It is also a relief for many of the longtime "inside" Badger fans that I interact with.

He had some definite quirkiness and there were lots of rumors that he and Alvarez did not get along at all. Andersen had lots of weird press conference moments earlier in the year and clearly bungled the handling of the McEvoy/Stave situation.

Kill to Wisconsin?

You're lying to yourself and everyone else. A coach leaving after 2 years, with no public strikes against him, to a less prestigious school, is never good. You can tell yourself you are better off because he was "weird" or "quirky", but something very fishy is going on in Madison.

Not sure I would classify them as less prestigious....;)

Hahaha the move doesn't make any sense to me at all. Wouldn't be surprised to see Alvarez target Paul Chryst to take over.

We'll get to hand Gary Andersen his first defeat in TCF Bank Stadium on Thursday, September 1, 2016. That is, assuming he survives a year in Corvallis.

I'm actually not surprised by this at all, and predicted it to some friends. You could sense the tension between GA and BA for a while. After the Gopher game, BA was on the B1G network and talking about how he and GA had some differences with regards to how to build the program.

That is shockingly awesome. Having 3 coaching changes in 4 years is terrible for any program regardless of how great the coaches are. I would love to poach as many recruits as we can just to add insult to injury.

The Badgers deserve Brady Hoke, the same way Bucky deserves a kick in the head.

I have a friend in the Badger athletic department and he said after their loss to Northwestern that there was going to be some less than flattering things that would come out after the season regarding the program...supposedly their was disfunction at all corners and he did not think Anderson would be back next year. Guess he was right on and I am guessing more of the story will be coming out

Please, Tim Brewster-esque. Pretty please.

Sheesh. What a shocker. It seemed like this thing came straight out of nowhere.

So now we've got three Big Ten teams all looking for coaches, with the odds at the start of the season of those teams being Nebraska, Michigan and Wisconsin probably lying in the tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands to one? What a crazy time in the Big Ten.

Wouldn't shock me one bit if the Badgers tried to poach Kill away as Kansas supposedly talked to him too. Norwood Teague did not hire Kill Maturi did, all I will say is this if the poach Kill away then that just elevates the hate level to a new level. They steal Kill away they do not get to take Tracy Claeys, we claim coach Claeys as our own now, he is one of us and cannot leave. Nobody must want Michigan job because Cuttclife from Duke turned them down and Michigan job traditionally better than Duke.

And of those three schools, where does Wisconsin rank as job quality?

Yup - I referenced it in the other thread re: Joel Stave, but I chatted with a family member of a Badgers starter on Friday before our game in Madison, and she told me there was a lot of unrest behind the scenes. Maybe this will prevent all the transfers that, according to her, were going to happen if Andersen remained coach.

Clearly coaching with Alvaraz (or his statue) over your shoulder is no picnic or their coach wouldn't have just high-tailed it for a much worse job. I hardly see Kill groveling for Barry's input. Besides there are some things you just don't do, and this would be one of them.

Jerry Kill isn't leaving for Wisconsin. We can stop with those posts already...

This would be so Awesome it goes without saying, how much FUN Gopher fans would have. This has zero chance of happening but Tim "Maximus Recruitimus" Brewster would be and ideal coach for the Badgers. Bet he has already thrown his hat in the ring.
I am betting that this is Darrel Bevil next landing stop, played for Barry would likely be able to handle Barry's meddling and suggestions with ease and be able to ignore them. Seahawks can kiss Bevil goodbye if Alvarez offers.
