Hell, they just announced Alvarez at the press conference as "Coach Alvarez". He's not the coach anymore! That's got to be a little weird. And of course Barry in his opening statement has already mentioned he's considering coaching the bowl game.
 

I wonder if the Badger players like their chili hot?

Yup. Anderson referred to him as coach Alvarez in his statement as well. This will be his team as long as he's around. They just need to find the next lackey to do the work he doesn't want to do anymore.
 

Jeez I hope they make a Brewster-type hire.

Seeing Alvarez in a difficult spot makes my heart so happy. I need more of this.

if BA coaches the bowl game, and he hires a new coach before the game, that new coach can stay busy recruiting, right?

i got to hang around Frank Broyles a bit when he was Arkansas' AD and towards the end of his career. Everyone called him Coach. I think it's a title of respect
 

My three predictions for the next Becky coach:

1. Dave Aranda
2. Rod Carey
3. Matt Campbell
 

this means the Gophers can rush to the Badgers sideline next year to retrieve the axe. yes!

He had some definite quirkiness and there were lots of rumors that he and Alvarez did not get along at all. Andersen had lots of weird press conference moments earlier in the year and clearly bungled the handling of the McEvoy/Stave situation.

Goldy creates trophy game. Having lost their most treasured trophy, they fire Pellini. Nebraska takes OSU's coach out of Corvallis. Corvallis takes Anderson out of madison. wisconsin football is in it's worst shape in years.

If you saw the meltdown on their boards after the OSU loss you'd see many of them were not pleased with the direction of the program and were calling for his head. Granted, those were likely the nut jobs without any rationale but, as they say, a blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile.
 

This is truly jaw dropping. Wisconsin just lost a coach to Oregon State. Just think about that for a second.

I heard he was pissed about the academic standards at Wisconsin.


That is truly the best reason I've ever heard. If Wisconsin is too hard, then America is in real trouble.
 

Watching the press conference Alvarez didn't look too upset or concerned at all about Andersen leaving. Also seemed to maybe be a couple of little jabs at Andersen like when Alvarez said something like I don't try to tell coaches what style to play or who to recruit but I do know the style of player we can consistently land.
 


Do they have any recruits that we could pick up?

I'm hoping that Anderson take Aranda with him. I'm thinking that Riley to Nebraska and Anderson to Oregon State works out as a win/win for us.
