Joe Mauer baseball and football. Travis looks have bumped his free throw % up from the 60% range to 70%+ range this year. Travis is getting top 50 attention. Most top 30 Kids will get a Hit from one of the big 4 Kansas, Duke,Kentucky or North carolina

Really? that would be over 7 recruits for each team going of your theory, and that is not putting in the fact that those teams would be going after some of the same recruits.

Ok then, let's take a look at the recruits around Reid Travis and look at their offers to see if they are comparable to his. Reid Travis is ranked 29 by ESPN. Here are the best offers of the 3 uncommitted recruits immediately before and after Travis according to ESPN. The offers are according to Rivals though since they generally have more accurate offer lists.

24 - Cal, San Diego St
25 - Kansas, Louisville, Texas, Georgetown, Arizona
26 - UCLA, NC State, Arizona
27 - Committed to Louisville
28 - Committed to Ohio St
29 - Mich St, Minn, Purdue, Arizona, Iowa St, Butler
30 - Florida, Arizona, ASU, Texas A&M, Virginia
31 - Florida, FSU, NC State, Illinois, Purdue
32 - Florida, FSU, Maryland, Alabama, Mississippi

Generally speaking, each of these recruits has between several and a ton of offers from programs in their area of the country (the west coast, midwest, southeast, etc) plus possibly a few more. I'd say Travis' offer list is on par with the other ones.

majority of consensus top 30 kids who have not given a verbal elsewhere eventually end up with offer to one of the big 4. Look at the consensus top 50 kids in class of 2014 his offer list fits in the 40-55 range as well as the 25-35 .

So because his offer lists are similar to the 40-55 range and the 25-35 range he shouldn't be top 30? Your argument makes no sense. As mattw1067 pointed out, Travis's offer list is as good as most kids ranked near him in his class. I couldn't really tell you if Reid is a top 30 kid in the 2014 class but his offer list certainly doesn't suggest that he is not.

Edit:

And to your point about most top 30 kids eventually getting an offer from those schools, who is to say that Reid won't eventually. Here are the offers that those schools have made in 2014 so far according to ESPN.

Duke: Jones #1, Okafor #2, Pinson #7, Winslow #9
Kentucky: Jones #1, Okafor #2, Towns Jr. #3, Mudiay #4, Lyles $5, Pinson #7, Alexander #8, Vaughn #10, Johnson #22
Kansas: Jones #1, Black #11, Berry #12, McCullough #17, McGlaughlin #21, Hill #23, Pope #25, Oubre #35, Whitehead #41, Victor #51, Perkins #58
North Carolina: Jones #1, Okafor #2, Pinson #7, Winslow #9, Berry #12, Jackson #16

So other than Kansas handing out a number of offers, these schools haven't handed out many offers for the 2014 class at this point. More offers from these schools are surely to come.

Never said he was not rated top 30 by espn. Just saying that HoopScoop has him under rated at 88 THESCOUT!

but you are saying that he is not getting top 30 attention based off of not getting an offer from one of the 4 schools you mentioned when in reality he is getting similar attention to guys around him in the rankings.

No, just saying he is not getting attention exclusive to CONSENSUS top 30 kids....therefore lending credibility to opinions that he is perhaps over rated at 29.

you can continuously change your argument to try to make it work all you want. Travis may very well be overrated by ESPN and Rivals, but his offer list does not suggest that that is the case, which is all that we are really talking about here.

edit: Besides, very few kids are actually consensus top 30 because the rankings very a decent amount. The one's that tend to be consensus are the top 10-15, which no one is arguing that Travis is of that caliber at this point.

well his offer list works for equal to or better for top 50 than top 30 THESCOUT!

+1

Maybe he thinks that stating it in such an exclamatory manner will make it come true. Let me try it, THE RYAN REYNOLDS!!!... darn, still no Blake Lively or wads of cash. Oh well, at least I'm still not Canadian :)

I think you're the only person who references HoopScoop in a serious manner. Also, people might be more inclined to take your side if you add a few more exclamation marks. The more emphatically you scream your own name at the end of a sentence, the more people tend to agree with you. Plus, it just makes you sound cool.

Any other year and Travis would be getting crazy attention around MN. It's ridiculous that he can't even get a chant at a Gopher bball game because he's 3rd on the list. Wouldn't be surprised if he felt somewhat slighted by the relative lack of MN love.

Made the short trip to Prior Lake to see him play today. He is as advertised. Like a bull in a china shop, with touch, athleticism and smarts. Good Lord, what is this guy going to look like when he's 21? Stay home my man!

@gopherhole: #Gophers hoops recruit @Reid_Travis_22 had 23 points and 9 rebounds tonight per @tchoopsczar

Go Gophers!!

I do not know this video has been posted yet on here but I found a five minute long highlight of his recent games. He looks good but 29th maybe a little bit high. My only concern is that he is a tweener and he does not have a real position at the college level. I do not know what Recruiting sites have his height listed as, but he is probably close to 6 foot six and not much taller. He was extremely physical and athletic but that is a pretty small power forward in the Big Ten.

He is probably an inch shorter than Trevor and Royce right now, who knows in 2 years. A short list of short pf who were excellent: Barkley, C. Smith, Coffey, Trevor, B. Houston, Weatherspoon, L. Johnson, D. thomas, Dantley, A. Mason, Fortson, Corliss. I would almost bet their have been more quality pf 6'7" and under than over in college. All things being equal of course I wish he was 6'9" but if he's 6'7" in shoes it won't be a problem.

Looks like ESPN dropped travis to 40 ... THE SCOUT was correct about Travis being over rated @29. I hate it when THE SCOUT is proven right as usual

@isurecruitlists: Notre Dame will be watching 2014 Reid Travis & 2015 Jarvis Johnson this evening at DeLaSalle (MN) per their coach.

Go Gophers!!

per Shooter:

Word is Minnesota junior prep basketball stars Tyus Jones, Rashad Vaughn and Reid Travis, all of whom the Gophers are recruiting in earnest, were impressed not only with the Gophers' victory over Indiana but especially with the spectators' exuberance when they rushed onto the Williams Arena floor to celebrate.

Gophers players also were impressed with the fans' display of excitement.

Dat atmosphere. Loud cheers, everyone, not just the students, getting on their feet for big possessions, and the subsequent victory and court rushing, just incredible.

per Shooter:

It still looks like Kentucky for Apple Valley's Tyus Jones, basketball insiders say. Meanwhile, word is North Carolina has moved in front for Cooper's Rashad Vaughn, who attended Saturday's Minnesota-Penn State game, and Michigan State could be a strong consideration for DeLaSalle's Reid Travis if he chooses basketball over football. All are juniors.
