From ESPN.com (insider) Best of the Nike EYBL Dallas session

Under Best Warriors:
Reid Travis (Minneapolis/DeLaSalle)
2014, PF, 6-7, 220
Travel Team: Howard Pulley Panthers
Travis is a beast on the low block. He struggles a little when guarded by longer players but the effort and desire to score is still there. He has probably raised his national profile as much as any player in the 2014 class.

From Hawkeyereport.com

Reid Travis is a truly gifted athlete. So gifted that Kirk Ferentz and Fran McCaffery are teaming up to get him on the Iowa campus. The Hawkeyes have offered in both football and basketball and are willing to share the 2014 if they can get him to Iowa City. Travis talks about the Hawkeyes dual offer approach and other schools pursuing the talented prospect.

No offense to my Gophers, but if you can get that gig, you take it Mr. Travis

Is this post some kind of sick joke?

nope, this is the little sub story when you look up Reid Travis in the rivals football database

I think the sick joke is in reference to anyone recommending anyone to go to Iowa for any reason.

Why would Gonzaga be a better fit than Minnesota or anywhere else? Does he look like a Zag player? Unless he gets a Duke offer or wants to play football Minnesota seems to have a great chance. The other school I would worry about is Stanford.

Not sure. They weren't a #1 seed in the tournament last year or anything.

And the Gophers made it just as far as they did. I agree with Blackhammer, I don't really get why Marcus thinks Gonzaga is a "good fit" for Travis, but I suppose I haven't heard his opinion on schools like Minnesota or Stanford for Travis, so who knows.

I didn't understand why Gonzaga got such a high seed last year. They only played three games against ranked teams. In those games they lost to #13 ranked Illinois and lost to #13 ranked Butler. The only ranked team they beat was #22 ranked Oklahoma state. Pretty soft.

I'm not too worried about gonzaga, I think the best fit for him(besides Minnesota) would be Michigan state, at least for style of play, since to izzos teams always have strong physical bruisers down low, he would be the next raymar Morgan or Delvon roe, or Branden Dawson, and if goes to Minny reid would be the next mbakwe, but we have a new coaching staff that would use him differently, he also looks a lot like Royce white, if you told me they were brothers I would definitely believe it

As a passionate Gonzaga fan, I can see Reid being a good fit. Elias Harris is a very similar player and stepped in immediately as a freshman (albeit a 20 year old freshman - he's from Germany) and started all 4 years. I'm sure Few is telling Reid he could potentially do the same. Gonzaga has significantly elevated their recruiting over the last 5 years or so. They are now going after the premiere players in the country.

I obviously hope Reid stays here, but if he has to go some where out of state, I hope it's Gonzaga. Sam Dower has had a nice career thus far at Gonzaga, so Reid wouldn't be the first Minnesota big to go there.

One last thing, if academics are as important as Reid says they are, he won't end up at Gonzaga. While it's a nice school, it isn't a big ten education, much less a Stanford education.

I wouldn't worry about Stanford unless Travis wants to play football.

I have said it on the other board, but I am pretty shocked that U does not seem interested in this kid in football. I get it, he'll probably play basketball, but other good programs are willing to "waste the time" of putting in some leg work in recruiting this kid for football.

That said, I don't get the "fit" talk with any of these kids. A true PG who is a distributor first but a really effecient scorer (Jones), an athletic post who can score from the block, run the court and his some range (Reid) and a prototypical SG (Vaughn) can fit into any system and any program. They're just THAT good.

I wouldn't worry about Stanford unless Travis wants to play football.

If he plays football northwestern would be a great fit, maybe the best outside of Minny, a high academic institution, they run the spread that travisnwould fitment with him being a dual threat QB, and they're a Midwest school close to home, and they have won 10 games last year and are starting to recruit at a much better level then before

Agreed. MSU seems to be a great fit for Travis. Duke would also be a great fit (if they offer).

BTW, I wasn't trying to say Gonzaga must be the leader for Travis or anything. Just noting that they've had more recent success than us.

Knowing academics and sports are both major factors in a school choice for Reid Travis, I see the U of M being a perfect fit. Great academic standing as a Big Ten school, immediate need for his position on the court so he gets a ton of playing time. Not sure how and if football plays a huge part of his decision, but I am guessing it would be hard to do both but not impossible. Stay in Minnnesota Reid! :D

reid had 23 points 13 rebounds today at the EYBL, beast, and in one game if you're wondering, not 2

And Stanford doesn't recruit dual threat QBs

Course they do... Robert Griffin III was a prime example. They tried to get him, but he chose Baylor instead because Stanford already had a certain someone at QB...

they recruit game managers, not reid travis style QBs, kevin hogan is a game manager, they are like wisconsin QBs, they will always have one of the best completion percentages in the nation around 70% due to the fact on how much they run the ball and their big offensive line, they may have recruited RGIII but he is a reliable QB that can actually pass, RGIII was a QB that was also an athlete, reid travis is not a QB, just an athlete that plays QB, like marqueis gray, i honestly dont see travis being that much better then marqueis if he were to chose football, he could be an incredibly successful tight end for stanford however, the next kevin ertz or levine toilolo, both 6-6 and 6-8, they utilize there tight ends very well

It'd be so much better if he came to Minnesota and became the next Trevor Mbakwe (for 4 years).
