***OFFICIAL GOPHERS VS PURDUE IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

What has he shown to have faith in him? Sorry but in my opinion three years in and we will be participating in 3 nits. He can prove me wrong but I do not get all this faith in him.
An NIT title in his first year with a bunch of players that don't fit his system is a good place to start. Look at the players he's brought in - Mathieu, King, Morris, Mason are the core of our team right now. If you expected him to do any better in a year and a half you are delusional.

What has he done that makes you have no faith?

I think you're mistaken. The football team has this thing called mental toughness and knows how to win road games.

The basketball team would do themselves good to learn a thing or two from the football team.

You catch the Illinois game, bro?

If it's up to the fans and media to make sure the teams don't underachieve, the players and coaches collective focus is way out of whack.
Not saying that's the sole reason, but when the players go online and see everyone and their brother blasting them it can't help.

2-2 on the road in conference. When was the last time the basketball team did that? Probably a decade ago in 2004.

The football team has done it back to back years and three times since the basketball team last did it.

hollins 2 for 10 with 7 points was a killer. He needs to step up. Not cool

This is the quote of the day right here. My opinion 3 years in and 3 nits (which is what I am guessing) and year 4 is it. Progress has to be shown. There is no reason this program at the worse should not be a ncaa team every 3 years.

Basically your whole argument for not liking Pitino is that he will make 3 NIT in 3 years, which hasn't even happened yet. Give me an actual reason.

Lol yeah. Pretty awful Logic. Pitino lost 1 game. Therefore I predict we will be in 3 straight NIT's and I will want him fired. Therefore, fire him now. Haha

Not worried about most guys on the team, but I am very worried about Andre. I just don't think he is going to step up in big games for us. I don't think Eliason is capable of getting the job done either when he is called upon. Mathieu is a special player, Mason and Morris are going to be special, and Mo/King are who they are. You take those 2 for what they are worth. They have their strengths and weaknesses.

I thought the program was stagnat under Tubby but me personally I wanted an established coach not a kid with a last name. 1 year as a head coach and he gets a big ten job? Come on Bo Ryan works his ass off and moves up the ladder. Many more examples out there. He can change my mind I fully admit I was wrong with Kill not saying I am an expert just a season ticket holder with an opinion.

Very true. But fans are fans. If there's a bad loss, and this was a bad loss, folks are going to vent. Just the way it is. Players should know its coming and expect it, especially after the crap level of effort they put out there in the second half today. Still a lot of season left, but boy, they're really going to have find something quickly. Can't continue with "if we had just done this, we would have won" mindset. Eventually, the team has to actually follow through when it matters. Got a little over half a season to figure that out.

Hammons was in the lane for over 4 seconds that time. He was camped in the lane. How can you defend that? If they aren't going to call it, I would clear everyone out and let him post up down low all day.
This one really pissed me off. Same thing happened earlier in the game with Haas planting his ass in the lane for 4 seconds with no call, then call a foul on Mo. I agree that our mental toughness and weak defense let us down. The refs failing "Reffing 101" throughout the game--so aggravating.

Agreed. Andre was at his best in the non conference when he was a spot up shooter. He had some wide open looks today and just didn't get the ball. I think that's when he gets frustrated, tries to do too much, and yeah.

That said. He very nearly tied the game for us at the end. He's a great shooter, we need to put him in spots to utilize that.

Never placed expectations but ask yourself if after 3 years we have gone to 3 NITs is that good enough? This is not fb dont give me recruiting cycles 2 years is plenty, and what about next year shows you this is an ncaa team?

So nothing. Your just a dip****. Thanks for clarifying.

Yeah, that's the thing with message boards. Right or wrong, fans are nearly as pissed off when the team loses as players are. These are the immediate reaction ventings of people really invested in this team.

It will blow over, and everyone will be right back watching and hoping for an upset over Maryland.

Settle down boys. Everybody gets giddy over an 8 game winning streak against teams that a good
Division Two team would also easily handle. Boys! Wakeup. We beat an awful Furman team by 10 points. Gardner-Webb beat Purdue. Pitino doesn't have the players. Hollins in BIG games shows up about once out of every three games. You'll see now how much we will miss Austin Hollins. Enjoy the game for what it is and a possible trip to the NIT. Team will be much more a Pitino team next year
with more speed and quickness. Cheers!

Did you already forget Illinois and blowing a huge lead @WI?

Completely agree. Andre tries to create out of nothing, and that's when he struggles. He might be one of the best 3 point shooters in the country when he's open, but he shouldn't be driving to score much. The expectation is that he is our senior star, so I think he tries to do way too much because of that.

2 wins against teams who fired their coach, yeah?

The point he has proven NOTHING so where is the baseline for faith there is none. He has done nothing to make you believe that he can succeed at this level let alone the sun belt.

Yeah....it's tough when the refs blow the whistle for one team and not the other. They had a bonus 8 minutes into the second half while we only had one foul called in our favor. And I'm not saying that some of those call weren't warranted.......but they were clearly letting one team play physical and calling the slightest touch on us. Completely kills momentum.

I don't think we can piss on the refs for this game. What they did to us in 2nd half, they did to Purdue 1st half. That being said...I wish the NCAA rules committee would redefine loose ball fouls. The refs end up over-analyzing and performing micro-surgery on these scrums and 90+ % of the time it's the player/team who doesn't get the ball that gets called for the foul. That's double-indemnity for the other team. This can put players in early foul trouble and disrupts the flow of the game. Let the players determine possession with the obvious exception of severe hold, push hack etc. But all these reach-in whistles...sheesh!!

Without Mathieu and a slimmed down Walker we don't even make the NIT last year. Relax.

Never placed expectations but ask yourself if after 3 years we have gone to 3 NITs is that good enough? This is not fb dont give me recruiting cycles 2 years is plenty, and what about next year shows you this is an ncaa team?

to be fair to Pitino the 2015 class is really the 1st class that actually got to watch a whole season so I won't start judging till then

Ryan James tweeted this, but this is where we miss McNeil. Having only one guard/wing off the bench for 3 positions is tough.

Next year with Jarvis, Morris, Dorsey, McBrayer, Mason should be very handy. With the potential to add more.

Big man depth on the other hand ...

While I agree with your assement I dont see how anyone can think next year is going to be any better? Your telling me Konate so, Dishendo fr, Nwanko fr, King sr are better than the still mediocre bigs we currently have. He has to get a JUCO or Graduate big

No, that won't be good enough. But let's talk about that in a couple years if it does actually happen. Who's to say we don't make two Sweet 16 runs in the next two years? Is that good enough for you?

I like Andre best when he is being Blake Hoffarber, just like the Wake Forest game. Run off screens and just keep shooting.

Sorry this is not football, if he is in 3 NITS the seat should be on fire and if year 4 you still see the same time to move on.
