***OFFICIAL GOPHERS VS PURDUE IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

This is a team that's lost 4 of its last 6 and we can't beat them. Expect mediocrity until they prove otherwise. Brutal and embarrassing.

No excuses but Purdue happened to catch a really hot hand - made all of their free throws and Stephens got hot from the 3pt line. Tough loss. Gotta go win one that we aren't expect to. Beat Maryland..

Embarrassing, pathetic, garbage performance. If our boys wanted to make a statement that they desperately want a shot to defend their NIT title, that second half was it. I don't know what about their history gives them the delusion that they are talented enough that they can not bother to show up after halftime and just sleepwalk through the second half and still win a basketball game, but they do it again.

Terrible, terrible loss. But, the good thing with hoops is there are a ton of games to go. Elliason and King with tough second halfs.

1-3 or 0-4 start to the big ten. When is it time to start questioning what really have in this guy?

When he doesn't have 2 of Tubbys big men trying to play at his tempo.

And how much does getting foul after foul called on you frustrate you and change the way you play? In a perfect world we'd play through it and not like it impact us, but truth is the refs had a direct impact in this game. Absolutely pathetic.
Shut up. Games over, can't change refs calls. Maybe if we score more than a few points in the last five minutes there is a different result.

Come all ye haters....

That scurrying sound is the faux fans and haters coming to rail on the Gophers for losing again at Purdue and blowing an 11 point lead.

And yes, we real fans are frustrated but lets not pretend that river(rat)gopher or any of the rest of you that are now posting how this is the end of the season, hello NIT if we are lucky etc can go crawl back into your hatefull little worlds and let the real fans alone.

Poor poor second half effort against a less than average big ten team. Not good. More of the same.

Not saying it's going to be a crap season. Just saying we haven't matured enough to win games consistently on the road

But 6 of the first 7 guys in the rotation are upperclassmen, so if this team isn't mature enough to win on the road we're screwed.

For all this yapping about how good they could be this year, I have to say this bunch is far from an NCAA Tournament team. No toughness. Defense was simply atrocious in the second half of this game and hasn't been good for long stretches in games I've watched. Get outscored by 18 in the second half against a bad Purdue team? Pretty much speaks for itself.

This team has some real roster deficiencies. Can't take the next step until that is fixed.

Personally, I would rather see Konate on the floor ahead of Elliot. This game is far to fast for him.

Second the motion. Eliason is a joke.

Can't blow that kind of lead against this team.

King needed a rest, never came out the whole second half. And there was a chance when we were up 10 with 10 to go.

I know it's just the first game of conference play, but any team that pisses a road win down its leg like this doesn't deserve to be in the tournament.

I hope I can be talked off the ledge. This has been my passion since 1989. I don't think I can take it anymore. It never changes. It's the same games and the same performances every year. It's ugly and it sucks. If anything ever goes right, we wipe it out like it didn't happen. That second half was awful. You can't lose it. You just can't. I am so sick of watching these performances. I'm done now. Beat Maryland.

When our outside shots aren't falling, we lose. Our bigs just can't do it. Once Walker gets into foul trouble, we can't do anything right. I'd rather have a telephone pole at center than Elliot. Little Dre is often too cocky. He made a few big mistakes in the second half that contributed to the loss.

I just hope Pitino has the balls to bench Dre for Mason. Nothing personal, seems like a nice enough kid, but he has become absolutely painful to watch against elite athletes. And I hope if/when that happens, Hollins has the maturity and leadership to accept his role off the bench and not becoming the Sr pariah. This team needs to move on, and it will cost them wins if Pitino can't pull the trigger

Without Tubbys big men Konate and Dishendo(sP), they are not even close to Big Ten ready. I question his ability to recruit a big. Nwankado(sp) is a marginal recruit I am sorry but I do not see things getting much better next year. Always a chance for a Juco or Graduate but I will not hold my breath.

This collapse on the road and our bowl loss tomorrow are too easy to predict. Not sure why I am even going to tune in tomorrow.

Agreed. The sun will rise tomorrow. We just need to work with what we have right now. On the bright side, we got a future star in a Mason.

The depth of your sadness is shown in your posts. I feel for you and hope you can get help for your obvious issues before they consume you. Until then....Hate somewhere else faux fan riverrat.

Maybe Jerry can talk to the boys when he gets back from Orlando about mental toughness and winning on the road.

Want to know how games against bad teams on the road should end? Look at the Michigan game at The Big House.

Pretty sad when i get a text from my grandma at halftime asking what creative way they will blow it this time...the joy of being a gopher fan

Second the motion. Eliason is a joke.

Did you watch his minutes?

Eliason is not good is agree, but konate is not nearly ready to cover a guy like Hammonds. He had 2 fouls in less than three minutes

Gophers were turning Purdue over early and got the lead. Boilermakers stopped giving up the rock.

As outlined HERE, Minnesota's profile isn't great for Big Ten play.. their defense AND offense needs steals and other turnovers.

Purdue offense - despite 5 early turnovers - had the lowest turnover rate of a Gopher opponent this entire season.
