It's a mental failure by everyone involved. Coaches need to come up with a gameplan players can execute and players need to go into a game confident they can execute it. Gameplan today clearly has been to go up and down, and the players are responding to it. They are just making awful decisions in transition and aren't giving the necessary effort on defense.

People want Shaka to come in and bring his exciting style of play. Well, if I was Shaka, I'd look at this roster and say "wow, I don't have a point guard and my wings don't attack the basket aggressively, so I either have to run a different system or gut the program."

Cobbs is a bench player in the Big Ten. Colton is a role player. Those players succeed outside of the Big Ten because defense outside of the Big Ten is terrible

Wrong and wrong! Just because Tubby couldn't coach them right doesn't diminish what they've accomplished elsewhere. But hey, stay mired in your mediocre expectations.
 

Have Dre, Austin and Mav chuck 3's. Not only is it our only chance to come back, but we need someone to start making shots if we're going to win another game this year.
 


"The ability to not be mentally prepared to play on the road rests SOLELY with the coaching staff."

That rests in the top 5 on my list of "dumbest basketball-related things I've read on the internet." The players' mindsets in a given environment are the sole responsibility of the coaching staff? Are you kidding? Is it your mom's responsibility to make sure you're mentally strong during tests in a room where the temperature is 72 degrees instead of 71?

Which is why both were such highly recruited players, right? Because they were fit for the Big Ten?

People need to get real. Tubby is getting the best players he can. There's only so much you can teach 2 and 3 star recruits in the Big Ten.

What players do you think he can get that he isn't getting? If you're a recruit, why would POSSIBLY want to go to Minnesota under ANY coach? No history, no practice facility, bad in-season weather...

If I'm Tyus Jones, why would I want to come to this program?

No need. Ask him donate the majority of his salary this year and the buyout, to the practice facility. Let him ride off into the retirement home in Phoenix. I am all for civility. :D

Well if Tubby hadn't sucked ass for the past 6 years the recruits would be better.
 

Everyone will want to schedule us on senior day. Kind of like football and homecomings. lol

Very good point. I sure as hell wouldn't wanna. I'd rather go some where with Nice facilities.

Like who? Who are you going to get that is more appealing than Tubby Smith? (a coach with a national title on his resume).

Gopher fans need to wake up: they aren't getting Shaka, Flip has no experience as a recruiter, and none of the top mid-major coaches are going to want to come to Minnesota. You either need to find a diamond in the rough or groom somebody young on Tubby's staff.
 

What did we do to deserve having our best free throw shooter's from last year be average this year?

I don't get your analogy....

I would argue a parent has a direct impact on whether or not a child is mentally prepared for adverse situations....

Doesn't matter if they were highly recruited or not. The fact is that both have gotten significantly better with different programs and yes, I will blame that on coaching.
