*** OFFICIAL GOPHERS-PURDUE GAME THREAD ***

You don't have any idea how dense you are, do you?

He does have a point. I don't think there is any chance Fred Hoiberg comes here nor do I even expect Teague to pick up the phone and check. That's not a knock on MN, I don't think Hoiberg leaves ISU for anywhere but a blue blood if it were offered to him

He's saying he is gonna root for ISU not that he wants Hoiberg here.

I could puke right now. Don't even want my tickets anymore.

I figured he was talking about a canadite to replace Tubby and didn't think he would mention Iowa State as a tournament team to root for because they're in a worse position then the Gophers.

Easily top 30, only D1 school in a state that has been producing D1 talent at a very good clip for some time.

I respectfully disagree that it is easily in the top 30. Might push the top 30 or low 30's with many schools in the same boat, but IMO not near a lock top 30 job in the country. Probably the 7th at best and 9th at worst in just the B10

... it isn't fair to judge Tubby against Izzo.

I Agree. Nor is it fair to compare Tubby with Ryan or Motta or Beilein or Crean. At least it must be fair to compare him to ... McCaffery? Groce? Carmody? Painter? Miles? Who is Tubby obviously better than?

Umm.....he won a national championsip? Uh.....the amplifier goes to 11? Any of this striking a chord? Could we talk about something else?

Compared to MN of the past, yes. Compared to the rest of the country, not really. Yes WI has Wisconsin and Marquette but the state has produced a lot more top end recruits than MN in the past half a dozen years or so.

Here are jobs I think most would agree are better than MN right now:
Duke
North Carolina
North Carolina St.
Kansas
Kansas St.
Texas
West Virginia
Baylor
Iowa St.
Louisville
Georgetown
Marquette
Pittsburgh
Syracuse
Notre Dame
UConn
Indiana
Michigan
Michigan St.
Ohio St.
Wisconsin
Illinois
Purdue
UCLA
Arizona
Florida
Kentucky
Missouri

That's 28 right there. You could easily argue jobs like Oklahoma St., Gonzaga, Memphis, Georgia Tech, Villanova, and Washington are better right now also.

I think you can make a better case for Villanova than several of the schools you listed. Minnesota has never had a problem attracting a coach nor has Minnesota ever had a good coach leave for a "better" job. It's a good job, has a lot of potential, but Monson/Tubby have sucked a lot of the life out of it.
