Official 2022 Gophers Football Recruiting Thread: Links, Tweets, Videos, Rumors

I said that because I still want to get bell.. but tAm and Georgia are in on him HARD

Must've been a great weekend. Twins game, Lake Minnetonka wake boating, fancy restaurants downtown? Go Gophers!

His public 247 profile says he was at Michigan this weekend. Too bad he wasn't here!

Georgia, A&M, Auburn all offered just this week. Hope he still comes here for the official!

He's here Tues.

Looks like he's getting a ton of love for that p.o.s. harbaugh

It appears that the Gophers got commitments from two speedy unranked under the radar players.
Tariq Watson, Helen Cox (Harvey, LA), CB, 5-10 / 165 Minnesota
Ike White, St. Frances Academy (Baltimore, MD), WR, 5-11 / 185 Minnesota
Fleck obviously sees something he likes in all these recent commits that aren't highly rated guys.

Development will be key once they hit campus.

Fingers crossed.

I will say player development is certainly better with fleck from my point of view.

As o

As others have already said, I think it's likely all these unranked and low 3* guys eventually get bumped up to at least mid 3* kids.
Agreed, I also think the covid mess from last fall has delayed some ratings. Fewer games played, less film, etc.

Most of 'em are already ranked around 3 star, 85-86 level, according to 247. There's just no consensus ranking on them. Kelly is rated as an 85. Ike White an 85. Tariq Watson an 86. Gousby 86 on 247 (84.66 consensus). Pyburn is also an 85.

Solid.

Seems like only a matter of short time for Anthony Smith to commit, bunch of crystal balls already and no other visits scheduled. Could be a guy that potentially gets that four star boost in time.

This is a bit off topic, but I thought it was funnier than hell.

I read multiple message boards because I like knowing what's happening at other schools...so... apparently ISU had a TE recruit on campus last week from the State of Wisconsin that was actually recruiting against the Cyclones and was trying to convince other recruits to NOT attend ISU. And as you can imagine, it didn't go over well. He got his offer yanked before he left town.

Something is going on with CB's. The Vikings sign about a dozen CB's in the off-season.

Now the Gophers get commits from 3 CB's on the same day.

Let's hear it for

MINNEAPOLIS - CORNERBACK CAPITAL OF THE WORLD!!!!!

(now, I just hope some of them can play - for both teams..........)

Wow! What a morning!

Just to recap who's committed and their P5 offers

Jack Pyburn - Georgia Tech, Wake Forest

Tariq Watson - Virginia, Purdue, Washington State

Rhyland Kelly - Kansas State, Purdue

Aidan Gousby - Illinois, Boston College, Georgia Tech, Iowa State, Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, Miami, Nebraska, Penn State, Purdue, wisconsin

Plus Ike White the other day - Maryland, Boston College, Pitt, Syracuse, Tennessee, Virginia Tech

Not bad!

Will be interesting to see where some of these unranked guys fall when the sites get caught up with their rankings.

Definite emphasis on speed so far with this class as we have a number of smaller, fast guys committed so far.
PJ type guys ;)

Watson looks to be a burner. Our KO return game has been close to non-existent lately. Maybe (assuming hands and vision) Watson sees the field as KO return specialist while he grows into a DB (or WR role?) role over time. It would be great for our offense to be able to start once in a while closer to home than our own 25 yard line. Better for our defense, too. Three and out from your own 25 as opposed to three and out from the 50 makes a whale of a difference in the field position scrum.

I am very curious to see his highlight video once one is posted. 121 tackles, 17 TFL and 7 sacks are impressive numbers. Love that we are picking up some Florida kids, so much talent down in that area.
His 247 profile has Jr year highlights. Played stand up linebacker with surprising speed for his size and a great nose for the ball.
