He was one of my favorites. One of the best DTs currently, Aaron Donald, comes in at 6'1".Also a little 6’1” guy named John Randle.

Buddin has strong interest, but is also seriously considering Michigan and Penn St., both of which he has already visited. We will need to get him on campus this summer. What is the latest on Jamari Buddin? Is anyone seeing anything that indicates that he has a legit interest in Gopher Nation?
Yeah but all we ever heard was how Steven Richardson was too short.
Is it strange that PJ has me thinking we need to be "Elite." When someone is like a 3 star recruit with .85 rating I start to wonder if that is what is going to help us win national championships. I trust the process PJ has and really like the size and athleticism of the people we are getting. Just curious to how my brain has shifted thinking. I used to just want an 11-2 season once every 8 years and being competitive every year. Now I think we can compete with the big boys. As a Minnesota fan I am starting to hate this optimism I am feeling. Normally, it just means we will only win 5 games the next season we play. This is different. This feels like this program defining season has not stopped and it feels like next year our floor is where a typical years top would have been.
Thank you PJ for rocking recruiting and for creating a culture that is easy to believe in. This recruiting cycle makes it feel like last year did not end.
Love it. I still chuckle to myself when I remember the TV announcer stating, "There's only 2 man-made objects visible from space.....The Great Wall of China and Jerry Ball!"

When Jamaal Teague committed a few years back he was seen as a prize recruit as the number 33 DT in his class. Regis is the number 26 DT in his class and people just see him as a decent pickup, crazy how quick expectations can change!I think we'll get Regis and Perry for sure. Feeling good about those. This class is fun. I understand a lot can change in 7 1/2 months but that doesn't mean we lose a lot of guys. Maybe some decide to go elsewhere but if there is a season, and the gophers are doing well, we may replace some of those who leave with better prospects.
Pretty crazy to just casually grab guys that we don't freak out about...who would have been in the top 20% of most Gopher classes

This class is really shaping up to be something we just haven't seen around here. Another example of that can be seen in the #6 rated guy in our class currently (and almost certain to end up a few spots lower when it is all said and done if his rating doesn't get bumped) - Lemeke Brockington at .8739. There has been somewhat minimal fanfare around him (don't get me wrong, people are really happy about the commitment) but if you look at our last 10 years of recruiting, Brockington would be the centerpiece of most of our classes and one of the guys people would be buzzing about.
Here is where he would rank in the classes over the past 10 years.
2020 - #5
2019 - #4
2018 - #7
2017 - #2
2016 - #3
2015 - #1 by a pretty wide margin
2014 - #2
2013 - #1 by a pretty wide margin
2012 - #5 by a super slim margin. #1 that year was .8766
2011 - #1
2010 - #3
There is zero doubt at this point that recruiting has taken a massive step up in terms of rankings with plenty of room still for growth and a whole nother tier to get to in order to play with the big boys in recruiting.
Obviously there is far more to it then just the rankings but there is no denying we are recruiting a different caliber of athlete then what we are used to seeing around here.
I don't disagree, but I do wonder if ratings have been consistent over that period. Like does a 87 in 2020 look the same as a 87 in 2010, no idea how this could be measured though.
Well they say football is a game of inches.Richardson is 5'11, that's tough for an NFL prospect.
He was beast for us though

Yeah I don’t think a top 40 type DT is ever anything to sneeze at. It’s a scarce position, one we often had issues finding bodies pre Fleck. When Jamaal Teague committed a few years back he was seen as a prize recruit as the number 33 DT in his class. I had two friends text me about Regis. We don’t get guys like him. 6’1, 300lb athlete.
No wonder 'Braska ran the ball so well back then. Put those cheerleaders in pads, on the offensive line and you will move people. Those were their cheerleaders. The ones that grad transferred from Wisconsin and Iowa.
Lots of defense this cycle and makes sense given we lost a lot, but hoping for some OL recruits. What else do we have left for scholarships?
Would you take Hess or Alt?Already have Logan Purcell committed and Cameron James and Otto Hess are looking quite promising. Not sure if we need more than 3 OL in the class?
Would you take Hess or Alt?
Oh yeah, thanks. Forgot about Alt. Honestly, whoever wants to get in the boat. Hess seems to be engaged with other recruits on Twitter. Obviously Alt is a bit higher ranked but they both have solid offers. I think Hess is clearly due some more evaluation.
