I'd have to say that last year's class was very underrated. It would be great to see the new class have even more of an impact this season.

This class is much much better than its rating. Anxious for the final recruits and Wednesday signings. Looking very good. The kind of kids that this staff needs to win games.

Gary Moore will be a beast on the D line for years. Our DL, which is good and will be great, is what will stop the run and terrorise opponents QBs!!!

So, we r coming down to the wire and we need secondary help. We r still waiting to hear from James but now we have lost Campbell. Does anyone know if Lamont Simmons is still in the picture??

i had a feeling it was something like that. I'm actually a little surprised things like this don't happen more often, but not really.
 


With Campbell going to Penn State, look for J.T. Ibe - safety/athlete from Texas to flip from Rice to Minnesota.

No source - just speculation. He has been committed to Rice since July and visited this past weekend. Matt Humbert from the Daily Gopher predicted the flip yesterday on 247 and with Campbell to Penn St. it seems like odds got better.
 

Guessing that there will be a surprise signing at safety on Wednesday, thinking J.T. Ibe. Another outside possibility would be Nilijah Ballew. Hoping that James has been a silent verbal all along.

Ballew commited to Bowling Green today.

Ryan Burns just tweeted Ibe staying with Rice, really hope we get Craig James and can conjure up another DB from somewhere. Looking a little thin down the line.

PiPress: Jeff Jones will make or break 2014 recruiting class

"He can become an instant star in the Twin Cities," said Lemming, who has covered recruiting for more than 30 years. "I think Minnesota fans are going to love him for at least three years before he goes to the NFL. He's a potential impact player, which is what they need on offense."

The 6-foot, 200-pound senior, the Minnesota Mr. Football award winner last fall, is confident he has the talent to compete for the starting tailback spot right away.

"I feel like I can," Jones said. "But I don't want anything handed to me. Competition breeds success. If I catch on to the playbook fast enough, I feel like I can get some carries as a true freshman."

"You look at the Minnesota program and you can project where they're going to be in my four years -- there's a lot you can say," Jones said. "I just feel like it speaks for itself."

If Jones signs, this could be Kill's best class at Minnesota.

So, the Gophers are currently at 19 verbals (including soft verbal Jeff Jones). Hopefully, Craig James is the silent verbal that has been rumored. That would put them at 20. Kill has said they could take 21-23. I'm at a loss to figure out who else is on their radar. Does Kill have a trick up his sleeve?
