I saw on Twitter that Kemp has signed. Lenius hasn't announced his decision yet, not sure what time that is. Sounds like it will be Washington though.

What's the latest on Lenius? I see he hasn't signed with anyone yet and on rivals its showing that he doesn't have a offer from washington who is said to be the favorite.

In the fall we will have 20 offensive linemen in the program. 4 will graduate next year leaving us with 16. I'm sure we will
recruit a couple or maybe even four but I wouldn't call it a "HUGE" need at all. We are solid. IMO

The Dbacks depending what tomorrow brings will be a need for certain. But we do have a solid walk-on coming.
If we get one good one in addition we'd be okay. We presently have 16 listed. That's four deep. If we add two,
we'd be at 18 in the fall. That's fine. We graduate two excellent contributors, four db's total. So, it's fixable. They have a plan I'm guessing. Kids they are aware of next year. It didn't seem a huge priority this recruiting period. I'm guessing they wanted two good ones?
Khari flipping to a team with 9 recruits and 5 of them higher rated dbacks is puzzling.

Not really. He's a very good student from a family that really values education. After flirting with Northwestern he couldn't turn down Vanderbilt which is only 100 miles from home.

I think the home angle is the winner, as it usually is. Minnesota is easier to get into than Vanderbilt, but it also happens to be a better university than Vanderbilt according to many respected rankings other than US News.

I wonder if our coaches are even aware that Minnesota is a consensus top 50 world university. That's a hell of a selling point to players who are receptive to the academics and jobs post football angle.

Really?

Yep. But let's not go down that rabbit hole. I think the point has been made enough recently. I was wondering out loud (if that's possible on the Web), and pimping Minnesota. I can't help pimping our university, especially when it's warranted.

Minnesota does not outrank Vanderbilt on academics in very many circles. I would say with the exception of a couple majors, most folks would say Vanderbilt is unquestionably the better school.

That would be because Vanderbilt is ranked higher in US News, which is what people know. The US News rankings have major flaws.

We shouldn't continue this discussion in this thread, but I'd be more than willing to share with you the problems of US News and show you the multiple organizations that make Minnesota a consensus top 50 world university (no southern school ranks in the top 50) and tell you why these rankings are more appropriate through a PM.

Has good size and decent speed and agility to go with it. I wonder if they are looking at him as a wr or safety.

Looks like he camped here. Super under the radar guy, not even rated on Rivals.

Any word on Egurbide or Gant? Is 2014 Recruiting done & over with? We've got abut 28 commitments - scholies & PWOs.

Ryan Burns just tweeted that a 2014 prospect is taking an official this weekend. A DB I assume?

Yes, there has been a mystery DB recruit who has been set to visit for quite a while now. Apparently he has (or had) legit SEC offers but Burns has kept the name quiet the entire time. He is going to be releasing a story about him tonight.

Edit: Scratch that, Burns just released the name. Rashaun Croney is the mystery recruit. He is just a two star athlete but has listed offers from Arkansas and South Carolina.

per STrib:

Still recruiting 2014 class

The Gophers are considering adding another defensive back to this year’s recruiting class. Ra’Shaun Croney is making an official visit this weekend from Pahokee, Fla. He had offers from South Carolina and Arkansas but needed to improve his grades to qualify academically.

Now, his grades are on the rise. He committed to play at Ellsworth (Iowa) Community Class, but might flip to the Gophers if they offer a scholarship.

Go Gophers!!

I am very comfortable in saying that number is wrong. If it was said it could have included preferred walk-ons at the time. Every times I heard it talked about the number was in the 18-19 range and that included approximately up to three potentially over signings.

Imagine that. And now we have 21.
