Official 2014 Recruiting Updates Thread: Links, Tweets, Videos, Stories, Rumors, etc.

Craig James has re-scheduled his official for Dec 13 and has narrowed it down to us and Indiana. Given our depth issues at corner going into the next season this is a guy I really want.

Also has offers from both Iowa schools, Kansas, Missouri, and Syracuse.

Extremely impressed wih the work this coaching staff is putting in on and off the field. Billy Glasscock and co have been fantastic with this 2014 class.

I really question the strength of the opponents. I didn't see a pass completion that wasn't a slant or an aired out bomb on a go route or scramble. The running was impressive, but against good tackling, dangerous.

He plays for a school in the biggest class in Kansas. I've got to think the competition wasn't too terrible.

I want to see a complete game, not highlights. Playing QB in the B1G requires a lot. Not just in physical ability but between the ears. Which is why in highlights I look for the details. Did he hold a LB with his eyes to open another route. Where were his eyes before the snap? Can he only read high to low? Can he keep a play alive or does he always bail and run? Can he stand in a pocket?

Dominic Mckinzys senior season highlights http://www.hudl.com/athlete/114109/highlights/105865410?autoplay=1 I think QB is his position IMO

Wowee, he does appear to have a rifle of an arm and can thread the seam with his passes. The real proof of the pudding is when he gets here and starts practicing with guys that are much better and faster than in HS. The windows are much tighter, and I agree with other posters that what is in between the ears matters the most. I see good things with him and Streveler.

and given the hs game tapes most often provided you can't tell 90% of these things unless you are there in person.

Ture, but it's possible. If the game film is quality you can. I just don't like putting a lot of merit into highlight tapes. Basketball is even worse. Watching highlight film of hs players the U recruits is basically all the same except for the dunks.

My point was that I don't deny the ability but that they can be deceiving.

I wonder what Hayo Carpenter's highlight films looked like...

Cortez Lewis, a WR currently committed to Northern Illinois, will be here for an OV in December.

Any word on Ragnow after his visit last week? We seem to be going after the right players to fit our style with a lot of linemen and TEs and Ragnow would be such a key piece.

Sounds like Frank was blown away by the atmosphere, he tweeted something about it being completely different than Gopher games in the past. I don't have any inside info or anything but I think we have a great shot at landing him.

we certainly need playmakers. Kid has good lay out ability and makes some pretty impressive catches in his film.

Khari Blasingame was recently offered by NW and will take an official there in December.

Visiting NW on the 6th and probably will make his decision soon after. According to Ryan Burns he would be a Gopher already if it was up to him but his parents like the academic aspect of NW and want him to visit to compare.

Also according to Burns, someone who has taken an official will commit to the Gophs this week but doesn't want his name released yet.

I think we get Blasingame. He's been our #1 safety target since the spring, plus he's developed a friendship with McKinzy. Would be real surprised to see him go somewhere else at this stage unless he gets an Alabama or Auburn offer.

That said, I think our next two commits will be Christian Russell and J'Vonte Herrod.

Brown looked much better as a DB than a WR on the film I watched. I'm guessing that's where their recruiting him for.

If NW takes him to see their field/"stadium" at all on his visit, that should seal the deal for us. I know they're getting a practice faciity at some point, but that place is a joke. Sweet campus though.

FWIW, Demetrius Kemp switched his commitment from So. Miss to Wake Forest last night but is till visiting on the 6th. We are the only other school he is seriously considering.
