Norwood Teague resigns amind sexual harassment allegations

Hopefully she does understand the supreme value of revenue sports (i..e. football and men's basketball and in a few places hockey) and perhaps she does, but my intuition says her heart likely sits elsewhere based on this bio of past roles that i pulled from a Minneapolis Tribune article this morning. Imo, she is not a candidate I would focus on. The person's heart and soul needs to be in line with the health of football, basketball and to a lesser degree hockey (in places like Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, Ohio State).

"While at Butler, Goetz served as the sport administrator for softball, volleyball and the men's and women's soccer programs. She previously supervised the men's and women's cross country and track and field programs. Goetz had spent 12 years at the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL) prior to her time at Butler. She was an assistant athletic director and senior woman administrator for her final eight years and was the women's soccer team head coach for 11 years."

You are so focused on what she did at Butler & UMSL that you missed her duties here:

"Goetz has played an integral role as one of the department’s senior administrators and serves as a top executive in overseeing the department’s 25 sports, more than 300 staff members, 725 student-athletes and annual budget of more than $100 million. She assists with the overall department planning and assessment and manages day-to-day athletic operations."

It seems while Norwood was the face of the program, Beth probably ran the program.

I know you only get 144 characters, Doogie, but this is a terrible tweet. Who is über-confident, Kill or Kaler?

Is it just me, or does it not seem like the relationship between Teague and whomever the other person(s) are was already pretty flirtatious in nature between the two and that there had to be some reciprocal back and forth "bed talk" going on between them and not just coming unsolicited from Teague exclusively? If so, and it was in fact reciprocal flirting and bed talk going on between them outside of captured text messages, then it seems like a crappy situation for Teague that he gets the boot in all of it. Perhaps that is why there was apparently talk going on around his camp that he should "fight" the harassment accusations in the matter, but in the end just decided to sacrifice himself for the good of the U of M and not dragging the situation out. Just my two cents if I am reading those quotes correctly.

Remember though, he resigned. He knows what he did and he came to the conclusion that it's not worth fighting an investigation. That might be telling in and of itself. And who's to say there is not more?

How and why did he have her cell number? Is dirty talk enough for these "victims" to get a big pay day ? Teague had to go however this was toO much to overcome and would have hampered his effectiveness as AD.

One reporter who has the texts describes as "absolutely horrific".

I don't see this as a huge setback for the football program. Kill will end his career here, I'm confident in that. It's Pitino I'm more worried about. Teague was our best hope for keeping him around for the long haul (assuming he starts having success here). As someone mentioned earlier, Phil Esten would be a good choice.

Pitino was Teague 30th choice, he found him after asking Billy Donovan for help. I think were all overestimating that prior connection. If we build facilities, Pitino has success and show a commitment to his program by giving him the tools to win and he delivers, Pitino will be here. This is a big ten job, we can afford to keep our coaches if we truly want them.

He's an authority at the university. They are held to a higher standard. Comes with the paycheck. Don't dip your pen in company ink.

Frankly, I could still care less. I think he is a joke. He and his Dad putting his name out there for other jobs? I don't think he really wants to be here. He is in over his head!

I remember my first beer! Thought you iron rangers could drink?

Then that reporter probably shouldn't look a the text messages that men and women, women and women, and men and men send to each other everyday with the same type of commentary. Married, dating or otherwise. Co-workers or otherwise. Not saying it makes it right or wrong, but to call it horrific is a bit of an overreach imo. Sending texts that some would consider lewd or too descriptive is not a new thing in this day and age. Just ask Brett Favre. :D

Took his class at the U. Mr. Esten is someone who definitely gets it, I think he would be a great AD

Met both Teague/ Goetz on multiple occasions. He brought her here and both love FB/ BB. U will do a national search n not likely she stays as permanent AD. Sad 4 him/ U but correct decision all around . Now on to getting the best replacement. Go Goldy!

only a matter of time until a site like Deadspin gets a hold of these

Wtf?

If they weren't expecting/accepting, you could absolutely describe them as horrific.

Gross. Now I have the phrase "mega tongue" and an image of Norwood Teague burned into my brain.

The women were scared to go home alone. That's a tad horrific.
