JD Spielman. RTB?

I understand exactly what he's saying and i'm not arguing with anyone. Because there are posters wondering where JD would fit in or even some saying we don't need him, what i am saying...is EVEN for depth alone, he would be worth it. I didn't say ONLY for depth. Of course he would be a huge weapon, but that's wasn't my point. My point is it doesn't matter what # he's at, he's extremely valuable.

That being said, Bateman is #1 and that ones not close. You crazy.
Bateman is #1, but I would say Spielman is closer to Bateman than CAB is to Spielman.

I don't think you understand...... j/k

Bateman is a First Round Draft Pick. Not a lot of people that are close to that.

Call them whatever you want! 1,2,3,4 whatever. They would all be valuable assets when they line up. They're all good!

Yep. Many parents who make a lot less than Rick Speilman does are paying for their kids' college.

If JD and Rick want JD to finish up at Minnesota, I highly doubt that there would be any issues with needing a free ride scholarship.

Plural is right...I'll have two kids going to the U this coming year. And, I make about as much money in one year as Rick Spielman spends in one month wining and dining failed draft picks.

Maybe Rashod would need to stick around for his senior year if Mr. Spielman's around this year?

I'd take that in a heartbeat...

Bateman was the most talented receiver on the field last year and did not lead the team in catches.

Im just not sure Spielman is coming to Minnesota. I haven't seen any indication that he wants to be a Gopher. The guy is going to have all kinds of opportunities. I will be surprised if he wears the maroon and gold.

Could be he is going through the waiver process first to see if he could play this fall here at the U. If he can't perhaps he'll go elsewhere. Regardless the clock I would think be ticking if he wants to play this fall to meet his new teammates, go over the playbook etc.

It seems like he has played it pretty close to the chest since leaving Lincoln. I don't know if you are going to see any indications from him, but Minnesota makes the most sense (outside of Nebraska) if he intends to play P5 football this year.

Agreed. He has been very professional about it in not posting everywhere, begging for attention etc. Wish him the best but do hope he becomes a Gopher. I don't believe he would ever regret that decision.

I would be surprised if he isn't a Gopher. There is way to much smoke for there not to be fire. I feel like for the last year there have been rumblings about him transferring back.

Ron Johnson has been hinting at it forever now.

Not if he wants to play this fall. He's likely only getting a waiver if he transfers close to home.

Why leave Nebraska to go to a place like Iowa or Iowa State? Especially not now at Iowa. Maybe Iowa St, but Gophers have a higher trajectory and ceiling this season, and clearly working with Fleck and Simon will get him ready for the draft better than in those other places.

Agree. I'd far more surprised if he ends up anywhere other than Minnesota.

If he wants to stay at the power 5 level Minnesota would seem like the only real option given the waivers he would need. If he decides to drop down a level however he could go anywhere he wants at that point I believe.

I think technically that restriction applies to all of FBS, not just P5. So would need to go all the way down to FCS like Northern Iowa or Dakotas.

vest not chest

Look at all the football players that transferred last year without sitting out and some even transferred from home to far away.

I'm taking the position of expecting nothing and will be very pleasantly surprised if we land JD. In addition to the hurdles with getting a waiver, none of us really know if he even wants to play here, unless I've missed something (other than speculation).
