JD Spielman. RTB?

Other than me not knowing what him or both gach are thinking, sounds to me like minnesota are no brainers for both of them. Need the waiver which being close to home would probably get. Both programs are good or at least your not going wrong by picking minnesota!

Just seems like some crack jack local reporter would have already unveiled the plan if JD was soon to be a Gopher.

Both programs are good ! Basketball over 7 years we average 9th in the big 10, with the best year a 4th place finish . JD would make a great choice by choosing to play here for a coach that does a tremendous job with WR's.

What is the realistic way that Spielman comes in on scholarship? He obviously will I'm just curious what that looks like. Do we actually need to open up a scholarship spot or no?

Spielman doesn't need a scholarship. Money is not an issue.

I don't see that happening out of principal, but maybe I'm wrong. The kid is a scholarship player, get him a scholarship.
If he's fine without one though that's awesome for us.

With gach we should be pretty tough. At this point I'm not worried about what Pitino did his first 4 years. I'm sure gach doesnt care either. Fleck a good coach, but let's see it next few years. 11-2 one year doesnt make you a legendary coach. I like where were at, but let's continue to roll next five years.

I care what he did the first 4 years, hell that 4th year was the best year. Gach probably does not care but Pitino does, Coyle does , a ton of recruits do, fans and boosters as well. Some of us care on every year. I did not call Fleck a legend. Most people recognize we have a really good football coach and not a single power 6 school would take our hoops coach with that body of work.

Wasnt really looking to argue about Pitino as I was talking about how both minnesota football program and basketball program are attractive destinations. Especially if you needed a waiver which they do. Never said you said fleck was a legendary coach.

Huh?

Would classes taken at Nebraska transfer to Minnesota, or anywhere for that matter? Just asking.

Rick Spielman, I never would have guessed that you are on Gopherhole! It's great to have you here, and I hope we see your son in the maroon and gold next year!

Haha! Love when everyone spends other people's money! Something tells me if spielman comes here he will get a scholarship lol funny how things work out sometimes.

Silly question, but, might the possibility of JD transferring here with a waiver (either to play in 2020, or a medical waiver extending his eligibility to 2021)—which would stretch out the path to slot receiver playing time for others—have anything to do with the Jackson decommit, maybe making him more vulnerable to Purdue’s QB offer? Or just a coincidence?

I'm taking the position of expecting nothing and will be very pleasantly surprised if we land JD. In addition to the hurdles with getting a waiver, none of us really know if he even wants to play here, unless I've missed something (other than speculation).
Oh the whole thing has been an amusing side distraction.

I have no idea what he wants either.

He could just work out and hit the draft.

I wasn't even sure he was leaving Neb....

Don't know if this has been mentioned, but it looks like JD may have recently followed Kodi Burns, who is the Co-Offensive Coordinator and WR coach at Auburn . . .

Any chance he's following any of the Gopher staff? And is there any rumors to how hard we are recruiting him? I assume we do want him

Just a coincidence I would imagine. I think if any P5 made a commitment to recruiting him as a QB he was leaving. I understand we told him he would get a shot, but Purdue didn't have a 4 star QB already committed.

I checked. He is not following any gopher staff. In fact, that Co-OC/WR coach from auburn was the only college staff member he was following from what I could tell.
