Gophers in Lourawls "Tum Tum" Nairn's Final 3 - Decision coming Thursday at 10 AM

So it seems as though Pitino will have the last word with him Wednesday.

Apparently Tum Tum has made his decision but is taking a few days to make sure. My gut tells me that's not good that he decided before we even got our chance to visit, but it could also mean nothing. Maybe we'll find out tomorrow if we still made the visit or not, and if we did I have to think he picked us. Should be an interesting 36 hours.

I am guessing he is a Hoosier. It is the best program historically, possibly currently, on his list, and he likes himself some Crean. Time to hope for LaChance.

I'm hoping he goes to Indiana so that we can have LaChance. If he goes to Oklahoma or MSU then we'll probably miss out on LaChance too.

Indiana or MSU would not be my advice to the young man unless he plans on 10-18 mpg for his fr and soph years. It's OK or MN. He can drive and thrive here!

It could be a good sign that Pitino has the last word on Wednesday or it could be that Tum Tum has already made up his mind, tough to know for sure. I would think that if truly knew he wasn't going to Minnesota, he wouldn't have Coach Pitino coming in on Wednesday.

I don't think Tum Tum's decision has much affect on the LaChance recruitment.

If Tum Tum chooses Indiana, it sure as hell does.

I don't think that Lachance has been offered by Indiana or Michigan State? Are you assuming that a Michigan State/Oklahoma choice would lead to an Indiana offer?

Riley has an Indiana offer according to Rivals.

In the interview with Tom LaChance (father) in another thread, he indicated that Riley had not received an offer from Indiana yet. They recently watched him, but had not offered unless that came in the last three or four days. I suppose it is possible that either Michigan State or Indiana could offer once Tum Tum makes his decision.

Lourawls Nairn is done with his home visits leading up to his Thursday announcement, his coach tells @SNYtv

Well if that is true, wouldn't say it is good news.

Nope. On to the next one. Again.

It is over. He is going to Indiana. I knew it the second he said he liked going to church with Crean. Nairn hasn't hid the fact that he is religious. He said he would pray on what school to go to. Well, he sat and prayed right next to Crean in church. I mean it isn't hard tto connect the dots. Crean obviously knew this about Nairn and brought him to church to seal the deal. I doubt Crean goes to church with every recruit. He knows how to sell people.

I really hope Pitino picked up on Nairn's religious views and tried to sell himself as a religious person and also took Nairn to church. If he didn't, then he didn't know the person he was recruiting and he never actually had a chance. Let's hope Pitino picked up on that, otherwise he isn't as good of a recruiter as he talks himself up to be or as he tries to project.

IDE rather P didn't fake being religious to sell a recruit....

I think it has a very big affect. MSU needs a point guard. If he chooses Indiana or Oklahoma, MSU will offer LaChance. Indiana might offer him if he goes to MSU or Oklahoma, but probably a little less likely to than MSU if they're the one that misses. If we want Riley, our chances are reduced if we have to compete with MSU or Indiana.

I would rather be pure and be successful too, but that isn't realistic. Crean got his guy, and he didn't have to break an NCAA rule. That is as pure as you can get in recruiting. Crean is smart, and he pulled it off cleanly.

How do we expect to compete with the big boys who have better programs if you don't even pander to a kids' belief system? The short answer is you can't. We got out hustled fair and square.

Or maybe Pitino doesn't want to sell out. Maybe he finds the practice of using his religious views for personal gain to be deeply immoral. Maybe he just isn't a dick.

Did I miss Tum Tum's announcement to Indiana? Can someone provide a link? Thought he was announcing Thursday.

I'm also not convinced that he ends up at Indiana. (might be an interesting poll question) I'm still probably more worried about Oklahoma. I think it makes sense to shut off the recruiting for a couple days as he sleeps on his decision.

While I want to agree I would rather get the player and win. I would bet big bucks most Gophers fans would take Clem back and the cheating to win instead of what we've been doing for 15 years now.

If you can get the player without cheating by being morally loose, then you better take that player otherwise you're in the wrong business. Who knows, maybe Crean is religious himself, but I bet he knew what he was doing all along.

Well if he decided Minnesota, why would he tell them not to come? Just to keep the fans in suspense? I don't think so.

I would rather win without being morally flexible, but you really can't if everyone else is if you're not a blue blood program. In fact, I bet most Gophers fans would take Clem back and his cheating to win over what has happened the last 15 years.

If you cannot be morally flexible enough to get the talent to help you win without breaking the rules, then you are in the wrong line of work.

In addition to being a big time program, with more history and national exposure, by cancelling all in home visits this week, etc. Why tell Pitino not to visit unless you are going somewhere else? If I am wrong, please call me out. But if I am right, please acknowledge it.

Judging by his interview Tum Tum is a man that respects the value of information he does not know. He is wise beyond his young years and will smell the stench of that behavior.... That is of course assuming Crean did pander, and not just take the kid where he asked to go.

You assume the premise is true... could be, could also be a mistake. Could be that he feels there's is no need for the coach to come again as he already feels he knows them.

Don't get me wrong.....I'm not predicting Minnesota. I just think his recruitment has played out exactly as he said it would. He would go on his officials and decide soon after that. He may have been blown away by Michigan State the week before. He may have cancelled other visits this week too. None of us know for sure. His coach said he wanted to spend a couple days with his decision. I respect him for that.

I really haven't paid a lot of attention to his recruitment as of late.. is there any reason / indication to think Oklahoma isn't the team to beat?
