Gophers at New Mexico State - TV Broadcast Situation

WTF is Altitude 2? Is that where Parski comes from?:cool02:

Yes, and he was presented with a one way ticked back home for mental evaluation and some R & R. compliments of GopherHole Administration.

I miss Parski. Hope he's back soon.

Not sure if it helps, but I sent a tweet to the B1G and BTN and told them it was disappointing that a major media market like Minneapolis/St. Paul can't see their local team live. Nothing will change by Saturday, but I think it helps to show the B1G shots that this is a passionate fan base. I was thinking of a follow up email as well.

FCS-Pacific has the Gophers-NMSU game listed at 10:00 PM EST on Saturday on Comcast Cable/Sports Entertainment Package in Tallahassee. Life Is Good!

The game starts at 7:00 so that means it will be joined in progress. If you look, it has it listed from 9-10:30. You'll only get to see the last quarter or so.

I'm seeing that now on my listings...I have Charter. I would have to pick up that package but I can't see it for a JIP. Probably talking mid to late 3rd quarter. Might as well wait and watch full replay on Sun.

Joe Sensers in Roseville usually has viewing partys

Get an HDMI cable and hook it up to your computer. Watch the BTN2Go link live through that on your TV. I just did it for the replay of the UNLV game and it looked fine.

Now that BTN is down to two overflow channels, it legitimately has no capacity to televise the game at the given kickoff time. Yet it evidently won't release the rights even though its not actually producing the broadcast and is a secondary rights holder, getting the feed from NMSU's Aggie Vision. So now we're stuck with this mess.

Guys, I'm annoyed too but c'mon. BTN isn't going to send a TV crew and all the HD camera gear down to Las Cruces, NM for a game they would have to pay extra money to get the rights to to carry live. There is zero upside in it for them.

There is no "BTN won't release the rights" thing going on either. The reason they aren't putting it on TV is that they don't have the rights to do so, again, due to the fact that they aren't going to pay the extra money in rights fees and production costs.

Anyone have any idea what comcast channel this would be in St. Paul?

Also, there is an iPad to HDMI cable available for about $35.

I guess I am just dumb lucky. I have Direct TV and when we got it Mrs. Husker asked if I waned the Sports Package. Yeah, that would be great. That was about 5 years ago. I have never used most of the channels, but this week it all pays off. Two channels I get have the broadcast. It took a thread on the Gopherhole to find them. With Altitude 2 and FoxArizona picking it up, makes me question Fox Sports North. Too cheap? And Fox owns half of The Big 10 Network, tell me they couldn't get the live broadcast. If FoxArizona has it, why the Big 10 Network doesn't smacks of lack of effort, lack of will, certainly not a lack of money.

The BTN is showing three other games at the same time.

B12 Champs vs FCS Champs warrants tv . . . you are playing New Mexico State. Just enjoy your easy win.

Please don't include him in our fan base. He is an NDSU troll.

I went to Direct TV. There is The Big 10 Network which is 610. They also have 610-1, 610-2,
610-3, 610-4 all are alternate channels. So actually the Big10 network has 5 Channels they could use. Next Excuse, Please

What Gophers fans are more likely to want to watch one of those games? Or are there no alternate channels on FSN available not BTN?

For those that have Dish Network the game is on live at 7 on channel 443. Not sure about HD. Yessss! :D

For those of you such as myself who have Charter, the game is scheduled for channel 418 (FCSP) for SD but not until 9PM. I don't even know what FCSP is.

Stands for ...Fox College Sports Pacific. They will join the game in progress. You will miss the first two hours. Since there is a South Dakota game before that I'm sure it will be closer to 9:30 or even later.

FCSP is Fox College Sports - Pacific.

Thanks for the heads up on this. Right now its showing some Seattle/KC MLB game and when I click on it, it says "not available in your area" - is there any way to find out if that block will be on for the Gopher game?

Go Gophers!!

I have the same here. Honestly, give that the game is already one Fox Sports Arizona, FCPS, and Fox owns 50% of BTN, I see zero reason this game isn't being shown on FS North +. What would get higher ratings, Stephen F. Austin vs Texas Tech or the Gophers? If BTN is the one blocking it, they are hurting their related property and fans of one of their schools. And to what end.

So, gee we get to see half the game on a standard def channel that will look worse that streaming it from BTN2go anyway. I guess BTN wins.

Fox's ownership of 51% of BTN has no part of this. The same is true of the Fox RSN's. They are all separate entities with their own rights deals. Being under the overarching umbrella of Fox doesn't mean this gets any less complicated, as annoying as that may be.

BTN isn't blocking it, they just aren't willing to pay additional rights fees to carry it on TV. You could argue it's the same result I suppose, but it's not the same thing. It's a money decision, not some grand scheme to drive people to BTN2Go.
