Gophers at New Mexico State - TV Broadcast Situation

Directv has the game listed on 682, and 695-1. Don't watch it on 682, if you have a HD tv, 695-1 will be the HD fee of the game.

You have to buy the Regional Sports Package to get those channels plus others. They will charge you $12 for one month and then you can drop it w/o any other charges. If you are just getting music and the logo - that tells me that you don't have that sports package.

BTN as described above, BTN doesn't have all those overflow channels anymore. They may be listed as that, but they only have 2. The WNBA game is not on the BTN, it is on an alternate channel that is being used by one of the FSN networks. Its directv's listing problem, not BTN's programming problem.

The game is being streamed on the internet. You can watch on your phone, but you can just as easily watch on your computer or a smart tv. Its completely about rights fees, access, and broadcast capability, but if you can't seem to understand that, then I can't help you. There is no vast anti-Gopher conspiracy between FSN, BTN and New Mexico State.

Our Family's Choices:

1) Get AggieVision for $9.99 for the month,
2) Watch on my phone,
3) Watch on the iPad, or
4) Purchase an HDMI cable / hook it up to the lap top / feed on the flat screen

We opted for #4 and will enjoy!

I have BTN2go. Saturday where would I go on the home page to watch the Gopher game?

How did you get that to work? I downloaded BTN2go to my iPad, but I did not see the icon for streaming it to my AppleTV anywhere (the rectangle with a triangle thru the bottom). From looking at some discussion forums it didn't seem possible either. I haven't tried running BTN2go off of my iPhone. The one thing I did do was run the website on my iMac. The resolution looks OK on the small screen (about 5"x7" on the iMac, or on the iPad). But when I went to fullscreen on the iMac, it got awful mosaic-ish. I'd be concerned that streaming from my iPad to my 70" projection screen it'll look like something my kid made out of legos.

I just double checked... I can stream any and all BTN2Go programming (live or on demand) from my iPhone, through my AppleTV to my AV system and TV... No problems and very good quality. I get the little rectangle/triangle symbol and it works flawlessly.

All that being said, this option will only be a backup for me as I plan to watch the directv high def broadcast from the southwest.

If it isn't working for you, make sure you are using the BTN app, and make sure your iPhone, iPad, and AppleTV all are on the latest software. It should work for you.

Another idea is to make sure your operating system software on both your Apple TV and ipad are up to date. Just a thought.

Good suggestion. My new IPad works nicely with my first generation Apple TV (works and looks great on my big screen). My five/six year old MAC desktop operating system freezes up. And just for kicks, I tried it with my first generation IPad and the operating system won't work.

If you run into problems, call Apple Care if you have it and they'll probably help figure it out for you. Don't waste your time calling Comcast if they are your provider. You'll probably get put on hold forever and a day and when you do talk with someone, they probably won't be much help unless you get lucky and get a good tech person.

If you want to blast an email to BTN, go to the Contact link at the bottom of the main page (btn.com). Make sure you choose "Other" for Category and Subject fields or it will funnel you to some generic scheduling links. Give your name and some other info and you get 250 characters to ask them why they are not broadcasting the game over one of their BTN channels.

I did it.

I had a dream last night I tuned into the alternative channels on DirecTv and they had them blacked out for local coverage. I think I need to stop reading this thread ;)

I kind of doubt the game will actually be available on some of the alternate channels that have been listed as well so am planning to have the BTN2GO option ready as a backup. Just because the guide shows it doesn't mean it will actually be available. Has anyone actually confirmed that Dish and Directv will not be blacking out the game locally?

Blackouts are for games being played nearby, not games being played thousands of miles away. They don't black out the visiting team's home market.

I also choose #4 and got the cable last night. Tested it with BTN2Go watching "live" stream, which was a Mich-N Dame game from '11. Worked VERY well with a sharp picture.

Equipment:
iPad 3
HDMI/iPad adapter
LG HDTV
BTN2Go App
XFinity CATV

Unrelated aside that might help a couple others who are Amazon Prime customers: I hoped by getting the iPad -> HDMI adapter this would allow me to play Amazon Prime instant videos (used for kiddie shows on the iPad typically). No dice... Amazon blocks this, same as they do for AirPlay. In short, using an iPad with the Amazon video app, there is currently no way to get that to play on a TV. The audio goes through but the TV screen is black with an error saying "viewing isn't currently available with this app".

I get that but I have also seen plenty of times where an alternate channel will show a game in the guide but it will not be available locally even if it involves teams from other parts of the country.

Apologize is this was already posted and I missed it but found this on Gophersports.com so it would appear that live options will definitely be available.

Yeah, I never saw that, but good to know. I had a small worry about that but it's usually not often when games are blacked out it seems to me. If they're on that ESPN gameplan thingy, maybe, but I can usually see most games on any of the regional broadcast channels. Also note that the time the game's slotted on the alternate channel is usually like a six hour period, I think the NMSU game shows like a 6pm-12am block on the Directv guide.

Is that really an option?

As of this moment, the game will not be included on ESPN Gameplan's PPV package.

Just got off the phone with Direct tv and they said channel 695 will have the game! Done have to pay a penny for it according to them!

I have DirecTV. I ordered the Sports Pack today. I am getting basically nothing but ESPN Classic. The dumba$$ I called on the phone said I can't get any regional sports networks, including Altitude, because they of my zip code. I said so what the hell am I paying $12 a month for? ESPN Classic and that's it?

He was no help. I'm not crazy right? The whole purpose of the Sports Pack is to pay to get access to those channels. He basically said there was no way i could get Altitude period. Somebody please help before I call back. I was about to throw my phone through the TV talking to that guy.

Call back and ask for moron #2. You might find someone more informed.

Yeah that doesn't sound right. Call back and try again.

Can someone please confirm you have the Sports Pack and get these channels? Then I can say that when I call back.

You must, otherwise I don't know how so many people on here are planning to watch the game.

I get Altitude with my normal package since I live in Nebraska.

Is this the sports package you ordered, the one for $12.99? Altitude and Fox Sports Arizona are both part of it. If this is what you requested that guy was clearly wrong.

I know this probably doesn't help you guys in Minnesota but down here in Arizona I get channel 682. I have a sports package but that's so I can get Big Ten Network down here. I don't know if that has anything to do with it but it might. Now it says that the game is on channel 682

Thanks for the responses. I got a different person and it works now. What a tool. I should have got his name, but unfortunately I hung up.

I have directv and get the sports pack, since we pay to have the sports pack full time.
