All Things Royce White Thread UPDATED 10/25: Royce cut by 76ers

Royce is the only player on Iowa State playing like he belongs out there.

1) there is an all things Royce White thread for a reason. 2) Maturi suspended him, not Tubby.

No crap but Tubby cut him.

Yes Royce is a special player and will be an NBA player, it is too bad that he did not stay. On the other hand, knowing Royce as a personal friend, it was good for him to get out of the cities. I have lurked around this message board for a while and heard some erroneous things being posted about him and his "thug crew", lmao. He is not a thug (actually a really smart dude) and neither are his friends. The reason I say it was good for him to get out of the cities is because it grounded him and made him a lot more humble. He has never had to fight for his future as much as he did while he was out of a University to attend.

No, Royce quit then talked to Tubby about coming back and wouldn't come back under Tubby's terms.

Coming back on Tubby's terms....you're confused. Sorry but I have insight on this one.

Sorry, I'm not going to trust some anonymous poster who thinks he's an insider.

As I have never agreed with your opinion.

I'm on my cell, so if some else can find the link and direct quote, thx. I hear the K stud player was asked about what its gonna be like to guard Royce and he said something like- he's nothing special. Let's see if Royce can step it up. Hypothetically, if Royce gets 30 and 12 with a team win, he jumps from just outside the NBA radar to late first, probably early second. Not really pulling for him but I'm looking forward to the game.

2nd rounder? At this point I can't think of more than a handful of players that are better than him at the collegiate level. He was flat out dominant tonight.

He is a 1st rounder, flat out, anybody that thinks he is not is still angry and bitter towards him for the way his "situation" was handled. He may stay though, he loves his coaches and teammates.

Poor Roycies anxiety made him steal from MOA and a kids laptop lol funny how they didn't mention that on CBS

He's 1st round material. The guy is good. He could be great in the NBA, too, if he picks up a jump shot over time.

As usual your wrong again Zambam ^^^^
If you wish to debate please get your facts straight. Royce wanted to come back - 24 freakin credits.
You do realize generally I have the same opinion as you, I just call you out when I don't, right? So if I'm usually wrong, you're usually wrong.
Either way, it was just me misremembering what I read. I remember reading in the Trib (I wasn't on GH at the time) that Royce didn't agree with the criteria for coming back set by Tubby.

He may stay though, he loves his coaches and teammates.

He is not a first rounder. If he was they would have him listed on the mock drafts, it has nothing to do with if he wants to stay or not at this point. If you are worthy they put you on the mock list until you officially say you are staying.

5 Royce Whites would have lost that game. WOW, they got worked.

Mock drafts are projections. Not only do they project where players get drafted, but they project when they will leave. They do not wait for "official" word. There are currently plenty of freshman on the 2013 mock draft who have not announced whether they will be coming back or not, so you are completely wrong with that statement. If you have watched Royce play this year and don't think he is talented enough to be a first round pick, I am very embarrassed for you. The only possible explanations are that you either hate him so much that you are not willing to admit his talent, or you just simply do not understand the game of basketball one bit. Which one is it?

Correct, they don't wait to see if the player is ready to join the NBA, it they are worthy of being a top 30/60 player they rank them on their mock draft. He is not ranked. There are reasons for that and nba scouts have already commented on that.

He's small for a 4, he's overweight, lazy, poor shooter and free-throw shooter, plus his anxiety disorder & fear of flying doesn't help. Oh and there are the other background issues From the Barn bought up.

+1

With all the issues mentioned above, it would be surprising for a NBA team to risk a guaranteed contract on Royce -

http://www.insidehoops.com/draft.shtml

..."Any player selected in the NBA draft first round receives a guaranteed multi-year contract. Players selected in the second round of the NBA draft receive no such "

Maybe a second round pick or sign as a free agent.

I don't understand the hate for Royce. He screwed up (multiple times). He was punished (multiple times). Let it go.

Really, overweight? Looks pretty physically fit to me. If someone is that quick and overweight then more power too him.

Yes, 260-270 is too big for his height to play in the NBA. If you are a Wolves fan would you want them to draft him in the first round? No way. Nothing to do with Royce's Gopher past, he will have little to no impact if he makes the NBA. IMO, he will make solid money in Europe.

From a physical standpoint, White may be looked at as slightly undersized for an NBA power forward at 6'8”, but he makes up for that with a strong, bulky frame. With that said, his poor conditioning level is a concern as he appears to be quite out of shape and overweight, which could be viewed as another red flag regarding his mental approach.

Even with the extra weight, however, White moves very well for a player his size, with excellent mobility and fluidity. He'll need to improve his conditioning to maximize his physical tools and prove his commitment to reaching his full potential on the basketball court.

So you're trying to tell me that Cody Zeller wouldn't even be a second round pick if he left this year? Genius. By the way, Royce is projected as a first round pick of the 2013 draft on draftexpress. All that tells me is that they think he will return to school for one more year. If he declares that he's leaving for the draft they will change that and add him to the 2012 mock draft. It isn't complicated.

I guess overweight is a relative term. When I think overweight I don't look at a D1 athlete playing 35-40 minutes a game.

He is a very good college basketball player. NBA? Don't think so, but time will tell.

This was also his first year playing college basketball after sitting out 2 seasons. Not only do you think he won't get drafted, but you don't think he'll make an NBA roster either?

He needs to develop a consistant mid range jumper, if he can do that he can play in the NBA for a long time, with his size and quickness he has the athleticism to play.

31.5. Oliver Miller averaged 33.1 one season in the NBA, I guess that means he wasn't overweight.

I give him a 30% chance of being drafted 1st round and 30% chance he is on an NBA roster for a full season.

Do you think he is a lock? C'mon.
