Horrible Organization/Bad Coaching with The Jets - that’s enough to qualify, according to Geno Smith, the 2022 receipient. Ironically, semi-Jet legend Chad Pennington is the only two time winner, 2006 (Jets) & 2008 ((Fins).

Here’s another QB playing at an MVP level that I did not see coming. Funny enough, I actually thought my model was a little bullish on Sam Darnold and the Vikings heading into the year with their projected record at 7-10. Turns out, the model wasn’t bullish enough. The Vikings are the only unbeaten team left in the NFC and now have a great shot (35%) at securing the first-round bye. It should also be noted they’ve got some impressive wins on their résumé with victories over the San Francisco 49ers, Texans and Green Bay Packers.

There you go: return to remarkable performance.

Darnold's first 6 seasons employed as an NFL QB have fallen well short of "remarkable". There's nothing to return to, anything remarkable will be uncharted waters for the current Vikes QB.

I don't see how it's minutiae if it actually encompasses the definition of the award which you kindly provided.

Could make the same argument on whether Damar Hamlin was returning to "excellence", but I would have been fine if he had gotten the award instead of Flacco. He was at death's door on national TV. Making back to get into 1 snap at in an NFL game seems worthy to me to get something.

Maybe Darnold can get Hockenson come back player of the year. That would be really good.

Only 10 times in NFL history has a team created a higher point margin in the first half of games through four weeks than these Vikings. Nine of those teams finished with double-digit wins and made the playoffs. The only one that did not, according to TruMedia, was the 2003 Vikings.

It really looked like their incompetence on their second-to-last drive was going to sink their chances. Props to Kirk for coming back on their last drive to tie it. Bucky Irving coughing up the ball (although it was more of a good defensive play than a bad play by him) put Atlanta back in it.

The funny thing is when Cousins threw that 4th down INT there were people online saying "there's the primetime Kirk". When the Vikings lost to NY in the playoffs, everyone criticized him for that 4th down throw short of the sticks. Now he throws one past the sticks on 4th and 15 and gets criticized for that. He has his faults but people just find ways to criticize him sometimes.

The criticism of that pass to Hockenson has always been and will always be stupid. He had a defender in his face basically the second the ball was snapped and it was probably more likely that Hockenson makes something out of that play than he is able to get enough on a throw 40 yards downfield into triple coverage.

Of all the things to criticize Kirk for that one is incredibly dumb and people still bring it up 2 years later.

100% agree. I think the chances Hockenson breaks that tackle are just as good if not greater than him completing it to anyone else on that play past the line.

I'm just calling out the hypocrisy. People can't have it both ways.

Unbelievable play by Van Ginkel - great To see the D picking up Chandler.

40 year old Rodgers, looks old, Jets are gonna whiff on the playoffs again - middling club

Saleh won’t make it the whole season either.
 



Short yardage situations continues to be a big issue. If you’re willing to go for it on 4th down, just run it on 3rd down.
 



JJ should own a laundromat with all the flags that end up on the field
 

The offense and special teams have not been very sharp today

I hate that call
 



I have no confidence we win this game. The offense and ST are awful.
