All Things 2022 Minnesota Vikings In-Season Thread

It was always going to be, if Kirk gets hurt, the season is over.

That's what you get for sinking that much money into him. Lie down in bed with the decision you made. Do not sink more money into the QB position.

Depending on which teams decide to keep 3 QB's on the roster, there will definitely be options available when more cuts start happening. Just depends on what kind of a guy, what kind of traits, KOC wants backing up Cousins.

Wonder if the raiders roster 3? Nick Mullens would be a decent backup.

Mond wasn’t that great against Oakland but made a couple nice plays and half the people in this town were ready to call him a future pro bowler. Last night should quiet those people for a while. Mond is not the answer and never will be.

I think what we're seeing is that Zimmer and his staff never did anything to help develop Mond, because they didn't give a rip about the future.

so now, you have a guy who is - for all practical purposes - like a rookie. He did nothing for a year, and now he's trying to learn a new system.

I don't think you just jettison Mond. Ideally, the Vikes grab someone with a heartbeat to be the #2 QB and let Mond be the #3 guy and spend the season actually learning something about how to play QB in the NFL.

If you cut Mond loose, then the Vikes almost have to draft the "QB of the Future" next year, which might mean trading up in the 1st round.

O'Connell said maybe his arm got tipped/touched on the first int and the second one he was trying to force a play that they had been trying to make work all game.

Doesn't excuse them.

But yes, as they're want to do, internet fans hyper-react. Both good and bad.

You don't do a thing to the QB room as it is. Kirk or bust. Kirk likes Mannion, he serves a role in prepping Kirk each week. Mond still has potential, doesn't hurt anything to give him this year.

LOL literally as I typed it out, they made the wrong choice. Oh well

Granted a 7th rounder isn't much

If you sit around thinking Mond is the QB of the future, that will set this franchise back years. Mond will never be a starting NFL QB.

Good move. Mullens is a decent back up and conditional 7th round isn’t that much to give up.
Hell yes. Solid move. There could have been other solid options available in a week or two that didn't cost anything but the fact they made a move for Mullens, I trust KOC that he sees what is important to him in Mullens.

EDIT: Not surprising for the Raiders, as Stidham has looked pretty good for the Raiders and McDaniels clearly wanted Stidham if he traded with the Patriots to bring Stidham with him to LV.

So the new QB was
1. available
2. picked up for a conditional 7th round draft choice

and the fans are happy.

Hey, I am not disputing that, right now, Mullens appears to be an improvement over the other QB's on the roster.

we'll see what happens if he actually has to play a meaningful game during the regular season.

He was decent for SF over several starts, and the Vikings offense is basically the Shanahan/SF offense, so it shouldn't be hard to pick up quickly.

You were wrong. He has already played, and he will be the starter later this year.

Meaningless statement.

I fully expect you to commit a crime. Welp, I guess we'll have to wait until you pass away, hopefully many years from now after a living a wonderful life, before I'm proven incorrect.

Thank goodness we live in a country where (most) people respect the concept of "Innocent until proven guilty" !!!
He played a pre-season game and got heckled like crazy. Which was hilarious.

I fully expect him to get into trouble again because of the precedent he has already set. Considering the sheer amount of accusations - if even half are true, I highly doubt he can just switch off whatever issue he has.

Sorry, this is just plain a terrible take. If you can find a single thing in his past outside of this issue that gives you cause for concern, you would be the first.

The guy tried getting his ass from his massage therapists, rather than going out to the bars and telling the girls "I'm Deshaun Watson!". You can try to read more into it than that but you just aren't going to find it.

that’s a stretch. Maybe they watched him in practice and realized he sucked.

Can I ask what NFL can overcome their staring quarterback getting hurt and still winning? It’s not a unique problem or is it a money problem. There are 32 NFL teams and there are not 32 great or even good quarterbacks for these teams to fight over.

Internet fans are hyper-reactive. If he plays mediocre in the next preseason game, they'll call for him to be cut.

New ESPN power ranking has vikes ranked 23rd. Huh.

Vikes win at least 11 games. Book it.

That's bold.

Anything more than 9-8 would be shocking. The roster is top heavy and has little depth.

I assume we lose to Philly, Buffalo, and twice to GB.

Our tossup games are New Orleans (London), Miami and Washington away. Arizona, New England, and Indy at home.
We go 4-2 in those games, which is very doable.

Thus 11-6

Their Vegas over/under is ~9. Winning more than that would hardly be shocking. They have 8 games against the Lions, Bears, Giants, Jets, Commanders and Dolphins. The only games they'd be more than 4 point underdogs in at this point is @Buffalo and @GB.
