After visiting Dinkytown over the weekend at the Gophers’ annual “Summer Splash” event, Philadelphia running back Ohifame Ijeboi committed to Minnesota Sunday. He holds other top offers from Nebraska, Virginia Tech and Northwestern and now becomes the Gophers’ second running back committed for their 2024 recruiting class.

Who is Ohifame Ijeboi?:

Hailing from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Ohifame Ijeboi broke onto the recruiting scene last spring, picking up four FCS offers. After an impressive junior season, the FBS offers came in, highlighted by Virginia Tech, Vanderbilt, Rutgers and Northwestern, the Gophers offered on June 12. Ijeboi is a tremendous athlete, starring on both sides of the ball on the gridiron, competing in track & field and even getting some run on the basketball court.

  • Scouting Report:

At 6 feet, 190 pounds, Ijeboi has prototypical size for a Big Ten running back, but his defining characteristic is definitely his athleticism. He will bring electrifying speed and game-breaking ability to the Gophers backfield, having three touchdowns of 90+ yards last season.

Instant Reaction:

Ijeboi now joins Jaydon Wright as new RB coach Nic McKissic-Luke’s first two running back commitments with the Gophers. Ijeboi seems like a fast-rising prospect that could hear his name jump up recruiting boards with another impressive season. He is the definition of a playmaker and will bring some firepower to the Gophers’ offense.

What is next?:

Ijeboi was the third of four Gophers’ commitments from the weekend and their 2024 class now has 23 commitments, ranking 9th best in the entire country. The first weekend of Summer Splash was a success for the program and weekend No. 2 might’ve been better.
