We also need a revision is scholarship seating to what people will pay and what the market will bear. You don't go bam all the chair back seats are scholarship seating and expect people to not negatively react especially the amount of the increases. We need more zones, within the stadium, there is some desirable facets of where you sit at in this stadium, then just simply saying this should all be the same price. Especially as you go lower in the bowl with worse sitelines downstairs, and increased viewing in the lower bowl upstairs. Their should be family section in the stadium that is free of the beer and Alcohol in my opinion like other venues in town.

As far as the seat pricing, most agree that the previous AD management completely screwed up and took a short-sighted approach. I can get on-board with a Family section, if there isn't one already, but I've not had an issue in my section with the start of beers sales. Has not changed the experience negatively at all.

I used bad examples of schools in my initial posts. Think Harbaugh doesn't recruit in the same places we do anymore.

miami comes to mind as the only bigger market whose fans suck more but they have a way better/deeper pool of media down as well

Great point.

Must be that every mediocre NW season is bad luck, but every good season is because Fitzgerald is an amazing coach. Whereas Minnesota's disappointing seasons are because the coach sucks.

This part I ask in all seriousness...and maybe a lurking NW fan can answer, since we play this week. During the disappointing seasons the past 5 - 7 years, have NW fans clamored for Fitz to be fired?

are you drunk dude - northwestern has an all time record of .442 they arent firing a head coach who has them north of .500 and who also happens to be a standout former player and who also is 41 years old and who is also a hometown kid

we should be so lucky to have our own fitzgerald
 

We are Minnesota...what other options do we have? We can't attract a big name to come here...so it's Claeys or what else? The latest hot shot Directional Michigan school? If a Coach is really that good, they will just go somewhere else. I think we just need to face the facts- Kill/Mason is about as good as it can get. A Top 20 team every 4-5 years is the ceiling.

Bohl is not the answer. In his 3rd year at Wyoming and I'm not impressed by what he's done there.

And....Haven't people been banned for asking this question 1 loss ago?

Wyoming is 7-3, beat a ranked (at the time) Boise State team, and was receiving votes in the polls before a triple OT loss at UNLV. I don't want Bohl here in any shape or form, but to do that at Wyoming is fairly impressive, IMO.

One name I've not seen mentioned here is Bryan Harsin at Boise. He was hired by Coyle at BSU and has led a winning program, was an outstanding offensive coordinator under Chris Peterson, is young, has experience in the power 5 at Texas...

Would he even consider leaving? He was born and raised in Boise so there's that.

Consensus seems to be Claeys will be back but I have to think if Coyle has made some calls this might be one of them. Or perhaps down the road.
 

Frank Solich was fired at Nebraska with a 9-3 record, which was foolish. If Claeys splits his last two games, he'll be 9-4 in his first year. Hardly a record that would inspire talk of firing. With lots of young talent and a new QB, the Gophers should be competitive next year - and after that if recruiting holds up. My only beef with Claeys is his weight - for his own health and as an example to players, he should shed some weight!
 

I'm on the fence about Claeys, I think he'll be a great head coach one day, but as of now, I think he's still learning on the job (as he should when it's his first season ever as a HC). I'm sure he's never had to deal with game situations as a defensive coordinator, as he has as a head coach. So the question is if Coyle is willing to let Claeys go another few years to learn how to do things his way. We are competitive, even without a good QB. So maybe if we can find/develop a good QB, maybe we win a couple extra games.

I still can't decide if Claeys fits the head coach mold. He really strikes me as a lifelong coordinator who is very content to be in the background coaching and doesn't really like the spotlight associated with being the guy in charge. If things don't work out here I can definitely see him sliding back into a DC role and being very content. He is definitely a very good coach, just not sure he has what it takes to stay as a head coach for the long haul.

Seriously though, Mississippi St. has one in their history (1941) and drew 61,784/game in 2015.
Ole Miss - 1963 - 60,479

Kentucky and South Carolina both have long no-title streaks (not quite 50 years) and both outdraw us.

South Carolina last won in 1969. Their attendance is much larger than Minnesota.
The Gamecocks are always a head scratcher. Cock a doodle Lou or The Ol' Ball Coach couldn't sustain success. They've had plenty of talent where they could have done better
 

To me, considering our sustained lack of success, along with the fact that there are virtually endless entertainment options in the Twin Cities on any given Saturday, the fact that we've actually maintained a fairly respectable fan base / attendance numbers is astonishing.

Not that we shouldn't be striving to make the next leap (I would love nothing more than to see the additional seats installed at TCF in my lifetime), but to classify Gopher fans as bandwagon is misguided.

All he needs is for the offense to get a little better overall. Look at Wisconsin the last couple years...total offense ranked in the 70s and a passing offense ranked around 100 three of the past four years. They really have not had QBs who were any better than ML in that stretch.

None of the examples given are in major markets...most are the largest employer and THE sports show in town.

Saw your post on he other thread. Would be interesting to then compare how to many major pro sports teams each metro area has...

For instance, Seattle has two and PHX and Boston have four like the Twin Cities. Interesting...
 

Please if we don't replace him, at least get him another suit,sweatshirts,etc.. find someone to dress him to at least look like a CEO of a multi-million dollar corporation. I am sure that there are Gopher supporters who would take care of his needs. His remarks about only owning 1 suit and "they bury me in that one" doesn't cut it.
