Jerry Palm updated his bracket predictions and has us an 11 seed vs. Creighton. With the winner of that game up vs, the winner of Harvard and New Mexico. I would take that seeding in a heartbeat.

that is why I like the 11 seed better than the 8-9 seed. He has Illinois as an 8 playing NC State and then number 1 Louisville. What would you rather have?

McDermott is fun to watch and they have Minnesota's own Ethan Wragge who would hit five threes in twelve minutes against us.

He also has 8 seed Oregon vs. Memphis with winner to play Duke. And number 8 Missouri playing Cincy to then play Indiana.

I wanted to win the game vs. Illinois as much as the next guy, but perhaps falling back two more slots isn't the end of the world.

and sure winning three games in the BTT and moving up to a 6 or 7 seed would have been a much better result.

This is the same Creighton team that did not play even ONE team that was ranked in the top 25 this year (when they played them). They do have a win Vs. WI but can't see any wins vs. another team that was ranked this year at all. I would like our chances if the refs allow us to play physical with them

NC State could be a scary tournament team. A team that has a lot of talent including probably a couple 1st round draft picks and has underachieved all season. The question for them is are they willing to play any defense at all. I would much rather be faced with Creighton and New Mexico in our way to the sweet 16 rather than NC State and Louisville in the way.

We haven't played well down the stretch. But if we're the BCS team with the highest RPI left out under the current system, it'll still be upsetting. I'm not over the 1996 screw job yet.

I find it interesting how you bring up 1996, because I think that particular snub more than any other one I've seen is what has left me with the "don't leave any doubt in the committee's mind" stance that I currently have. Well, that and the 1993 snub as well.

Well in 1996 they said we had to beat Illinois in the last game. So we did. In Lou Henson's lat game no less. And nothing. This year they said we didn't have to, so we didn't.... And this says nothing of 2002. I officially hate playing Illinois in the last B1G game.

I have your back on this.

What I don't understand is why there seems to be more weight placed on a good W compared to a bad L. This team has had both although maybe a couple more good W's. Plus winning just 30% of their last 10 contests should have some bearing on the committee.

If the Gophers make it in, it will be a classic back-in job.

I'm with you. At this point, I'm pretty sure the Gophers are in, although just barely. This team has lots of strikes against it, including a couple of awful losses.

I remember the exact same thing back then. I also remember thinking "we've got to be in" after that win. So I can completely understand your point of view.

Minnesota has some nice wins this season. At Memphis, being the most important considering the otherwise poor road record. A 8 to 12 seed. 24th in KenPom. Some school the committee hates is going to have to face you in the first round.

Did not play at Memphis.

Any they have specifically stated that play during the last 10 games is not a factor, so why would they decide that now it is?

They have said this? That is the problem with the NCAA. Why play he games? This team is worse than garbage. Memphis is only good win outside of B1G. 5-11 down the stretch is terrible.

Well I got the inside scoop this morning(I listened to Sid).

The Gophers will get an 8 or 9 seed and play a really good team. They will lose that game and then go to the NIT.

per ESPN's Bubble Watch:

Minnesota [20-12 (8-10), RPI: 24, SOS: 2] In case you were thinking single-elimination postseason play would free Minnesota from the shackles of inconsistency, forget it: The Gophers were their same baffling selves in Thursday's first-round Big Ten tournament loss to Illinois, even within the course of one game. They played one of the worst halves of a season that has featured plenty of them, ending with five more turnovers (11) than made buckets (six). So: Minnesota is out, right? No. True, the Gophers are no lock; the selection committee could still decide that recency matters above all else. But let's be real: It is almost impossible to compare the Gophers' resume to the eight or 10 bubble teams hovering around the cutline and conclude that Minnesota has had a worse season than almost any of them. Their RPI and SOS numbers are such that they should have wrapped this bid up a month ago. They didn't, and they've given the committee plenty of recent excuses to ditch them entirely. But if history is any indication, they're in. It's just that simple.

Go Gophers!!

Joe Schmit and Jeff Dubay just referenced this poll on 1500 this morning. They called GopherHole "where the die-hard fans go."

Go Gophers!!

I think he meant that they don't put any extra emphasis on the last 10 games which I think is the right way to do it. It's not a factor in any other scenario that I can think of. Do the last half of games in the BT conference schedule mean more than the first half when factoring the rankings for the BT tourney in basketball or who plays in the BT championship game in football? Games played in week 1 of the NFL season mean just as much as week 17 in the standings.

I can understand it as being a tie-breaker when comparing two nearly identical resumes but that's about it.
