How do you throw cupcakes on the schedule down the stretch when you're playing in conference?...they actually had a pretty favorable schedule and they screwed the pooch with those too.

No. The top 4 seeds (Ind, MSU, Wis & OSU) are in. Mich is in if they win 1. Illl deserves to be the # 6 B1G team having taken the rubber game from Mn in the tourney. Does the NCAA give the B1G 7 teams, I doubt it.

The fact that you don't think that Michigan is in, shows you know nothing about the NCAA tournament. Hint: it's a basketball tournament.

This team has proven that they can play with much better teams and even beat them. No reason for "fans" to overreact .

They also have proven they cannot keep up with bad teams. No reason for "fans" to settle for mediocrity.

They will get in, but in no way do they deserve it. 5-11 since the 3-0 B1G start. Iowa derserves it far more than we do.

If they don't deserve it, then name 34 at large teams that absolutely deserve it more. Regardless of the horrible play of late, if they are one of the top 34 at large teams then by definition, they deserve it.

Michigan has to win one to get in?

The committee doesn't care how many teams are coming from a conference. If they're deserving of a spot, they'll get in whether you're the fifth or 10th team from a conference to get in.

we are in and we deserved it but we are not winning a game. We'll be an 11 seed playing a 6 and we'll get crushed.

I would have to say this is a very fair prediction that I would agree with based on this very frustrating season.

i know this and that's why i said i know that's not how it works. what i'm saying is if you're going by pure wins and losses, what the hell would you wanna play in the BIG for? obviously it matters who you're playing and who your wins and losses are against. not simply numbers. Thats all im trying to say.

What is mediocrity to you?

A sub .500 conference record, a Thursday BTT tournament exit, 7 conference losses (including today) in games we were favored in, scoring 16 points in the first half of a playoff game, and failing to inbound the basket ball on 3 chances with a tie game and less than a minute to go.

I thought fans were supposed root for their team to win and succeed.

Best Minnesota coach outside of those that cheated.

Selection Sunday has us in. If he says we are in, we are in.

I wish the no-nothings would just go away for a while #6 team in the country isn't a lock? Got it.

I do. That is why it rips my heart out every time we get this kind of garbage performance in a big game.
Can't agree more. 99% of Gopher fans don't want them to lose so Tubby gets fired. But when they lose, the blame has got to go somewhere. I like the guy, but look at how many of his Gopher teams have absolutely fizzled out down the stretch. Watch other coaches, they're involved in the game. They stand up, they move around, they work the refs. Every one of the assistants are more involved in the game than Tubby is. He just sits there and stares.

Musselman and Haskins. Wake Forest fired a coach similar to Tubby and look where they are now.

I will go with Jim Dutcher's B1G championship and Sweet 16 appearance then. I think those are still legitimate accomplishments, and Tubby has not come close to ever sniffing a B1G title and has not gotten within a game of the Sweet 16 as of yet. I'll reconsider my position if Tubby takes this team to the Sweet 16 (which I still expect to happen).

To see the team fight back and lose the way they did stung. But tHat doesn't mean they shouldn't get in the tourney. There are a lot who hope we don't to fire tHe coach.

Agree. The fact that I am upset with Tubby and think he should be fired does not change the fact that what I want most out of this team is for him to succeed enough to prove me wrong and make me want him here.

The committee has a chance to make a statement about poor play entering into the tourney being a factor. In year's past they have said its the "body of work" but how can they in good conscience reward a team for going 5-11 in their last 16? I would rather watch the kids at North Dakota State get a chance or the kids at Middle Tenn St.

Teague should Fire Tubby Monday and announce that the Gophers won't be accepting any post season invitation while the search begins for a successor.

You're stupid

I know this doesn't work into the math but I think it was key that we just didn't go out and get clobbered. Getting beat by the buzzer beater probably has a little better feel to the selection committee if there was any doubt.

This too. You can't say 'body of work' and then cross MN off because a buzzer-beater went in. Just like you don't fire a coach because a kid makes a 51 yard field goal. Oh wait...well...at least Joel Maturi is not on the Selection Committee.
