Week 8 Other Games Thread

Cignetti looks like a coach playing for his next job.
His contract is very cheap to get out of. Indiana kind of nickeled and dimed him. Might come to regret it. I think Cignetti is for real. He uses all the bullets in his gun every game. His confidence and aggression are obviously empowering his team. Maybe it falls apart next year if QB O’Rourke is gone … but this year has already been a huge success for IU.

Was hoping IU would ring up 84 on Nebby. But 56-7 ain't a bad consolation score for me.

I know there is a chart and analytics that tell coaches when to go for 2 but I hate when coaches chase points by going for 2 in the first half and it has come back to burn Rutgers today. They went for 2 in the first half and didn't get it. Because they didn't get it when they scored a TD in the second half to make the score 35-25 UCLA they were forced to go for 2 again to try and cut it to 8. They failed again.

Had they just kicked the extra point both times the score would have been 35-27 and Rutgers would be driving right now for a chance to tie the game. Instead they know that they are going to have to score, get the ball back and score again. all within 2 minutes with no timeouts.
Haha

Onside returned for a TD

he's also going to lose a bunch of upperclassmen he brought from JMU with him. It'll be curious to see how long he sticks around there as I'd expect there will be many suitors with deep pocket books coming calling this offseason

Nebby might want to re-route the plane to Cancun for the rest of the weekend to avoid the Lincoln meltdown.

I don't have an issue with Indiana running up the score. Indiana needs to do whatever it can to be taken seriously by the pollsters and selection committee. If they were winning by 7-10 pts. no one would really give a damn about them.
Also, I think one of the announcers mentioned it, but if this were an Ohio State or some other helmet school dominating like Indiana is, college football media would be all giddy.

illinois begging for michigan to show any degree of life in this game. bert with an asinine playcall on 4th and 1

What happened to other QBs? Just benched?

Time to bring them back
How is it possible that a team with all those recruiting advantages doesn't have a viable even middle of the road QB on roster????

Agree.
Like literally 2024 Michigan is 2023 Iowa

Feeling pretty good having Illinois on the moneyline, plus a parlay with

IU-Nebraska OVER
Illinois WIN
Tennessee WIN

One's done, one's looking nice, and need the Vols to get the offense going

Looked it up and Nebbie took on the Hoosiers in Bloomington in 1978 and ran it up to 69-17.

Payback is never too late. Only gets sweeter.

Although...showing that football dynasties have swung back and forth...IU dominated from 1936 to 1959 with the Huskers getting 0 points in several games. History is fun.

Is it just me or does Altmeyer strike anyone else as a little b*tch?

We could easily be 6-1 now, if not for multiple self-inflicted wounds against UNC and Michigan. Maryland will be much tougher to defend against than either UNC or Michigan. Hopefully our offense plays a full 60 minutes against the Terps.

Looking back, it is hard to believe that we lost to both UNC and Michigan. Illinois is good. Darn. 🤬
Not that I would pull for Bert, but looks like we’ll likely play a ranked Illinois team if they hold on to beat Michigan. Not sure Illinois is actually good though, they just gave up a million points and needed OT to beat Purdue, they beat Nebraska in OT and their next best win was Kansas by 6.

How do you give spot the bleeping ball 4 yards too far #Michigan

And they still can’t get it right after a 3 minute review. This conference is a joke.

Bert’s teams (in the B1G) always play with physicality, speed, and confidence. Would love to have this be the year the Gophs finally solve the Bert riddle. Go Gophers!

Watching Bama at Tennessee reminds me of that Music City Bowl when the Gophers beat Bama and the Gopher band played Rocky Top because it was in Nashville, and their fans got all snotty over it.

I think it's because the Gopher band had never been to an away game and didn't know what to do, but it was funny to see a supposed blue blood on the cusp of a dynasty get so ass-chapped with the Gophers.
