Week 8 Other Games Thread

There might be some Fleck to Oklahoma rumors coming....
Probably not Fleck, but someone to Oklahoma.

Every time there's a realignment at least one traditional power gets knocked down a couple pegs, and it might be Oklahoma (or USC)

Oklahoma, like Nebraska, doesn't have a great home-state recruiting ground or much ambiance to sell, so if they start downtrending it can spiral quickly.

And that is why I hate IU and Cignetti.

Up 35-7 and pulling out a halfback pass.

Classless
If Tom Osborne still watches Nebraska games after this past decade, he's yelling at the TV "hey Cignetti, you stole my bit!"

personally i love it. and the players no doubt do as well. run your offense until the game is really out of reach. there were still 20 minutes left. the game is now over.

we saw Campbell for Detroit do the same thing trying to get a lineman TD late vs Dallas. It keeps the guys hyped and engaged. i see no problem with it

FSU is probably more likely. They supposedly made a run at him last time.

Surprisingly, Indiana holds the all-time series lead vs Nebraska in football, soon to be 11-9

Indiana is going to finish the regular season with only 1 loss.

Miami Louisville has been crazy. Lots of scoring in the 3rd quarter.

The Gophers were up 21 points against NW last year at around the same time of game and lost. It’s still the 3rd quarter, keep playing.
And do you think a low probability play is the way to go?

I’m not changing my mind that it is classless, and I’m looking forward to them getting pounded when they play an actual good team.

Tayven Jackson has a lot of potential as the backup qb for IU, and they have another super weak schedule next year so they might have some lasting power.

guys i haven't really been watching CFB this season. Is Garbers up for Heisman contention? Rutgers sure seeming to think so

Wheels might fall off now for Nebraska. Very back loaded schedule, 6th win won’t be a gimmie if UCLA continues to improve.

I get your sentiment, but I'm okay with it considering it's Nebby. I'd feel the same if the opponent were Iowa or Wisconsin.

Their offense is legit and they play a pillow soft schedule up till their back to back stretch against Michigan and Ohio State which will determine their season. But they look poised to win at least 10 games because they still have Washington, Michigan State and Purdue on their schedule after this one.
Cignetti doesn’t play for close wins. No razor-thin margin games. He unleashes the offense and unabashedly tries to run up the score. Say what you will about opponents, but Indiana—well into the 4th Q—is averaging over 9 yards per play against what, to this point, has been a pretty formidable defense. I’m impressed.

What’s not to like? I would love it if PJ had more of a blood in the water mentality.

Against poor competition. But still the Indiana offense has indeed been impressive the entire year.

I know there is a chart and analytics that tell coaches when to go for 2 but I hate when coaches chase points by going for 2 in the first half and it has come back to burn Rutgers today. They went for 2 in the first half and didn't get it. Because they didn't get it when they scored a TD in the second half to make the score 35-25 UCLA they were forced to go for 2 again to try and cut it to 8. They failed again.

Had they just kicked the extra point both times the score would have been 35-27 and Rutgers would be driving right now for a chance to tie the game. Instead they know that they are going to have to score, get the ball back and score again. all within 2 minutes with no timeouts.

Nebraska had the 13th ranked defense in the nation going into the IU game. Indiana is running up the score on Nebbie: 56-7 late in 4th Q.

Cignetti looks like a coach playing for his next job.
i would be very happy to see him move on to somewhere out of the conference. don't know why someone like Michigan didn't go after him
