Week 8 Other Games Thread

Also, Iowa is completely senior dominated. They replace everyone next year.

Their fans are not happy and many are predicting 4-8 next season. Of course, we already know who one of the 4 wins will be. LOL

Funny how their blip up and rapid descent coincides perfectly with when this was all going on isn’t it? Must just be a coincidence and not at all a possible cause

Nobody wants to talk about it outside of a few fans.
I haven’t watched much of the games tonight, how does MSU have 32 points on Iowa? Didn’t see that happening.

Castro is hurt, announcers mentioned MSU taking advantage of some other new defenders. Chiles was rolling out, extending, avoiding the rush. MSU May no longer be horrible. Bad news for the Wolverines.

Ah, going on a Ted Cruz before losing by a similar score at Ohio State next weekend
Well, FM. you can see how much my 57 year old grudge against that Hoosier team mattered to that Top ten ranked team from Bloomington today. THAT is one fine looking football team!

But I’m still a little miffed that they edged out that 1967 team for an invitation to the Rose Bowl on January 1, 1968.

Oh well…

;0)

MSU didn't punt once. MSU has some young, dynamic talent on offense. The qb is 19 years olds.

They ran and threw it at will.

The score should have been much worse as the MSU kicker set a record for them with 7 field goals.
He made 6 out of 7 attempts.

A little late to this, but it looked to me like Iowa State got away with a false start on the game winning TD.

The smart ones understand the chicanery involved🥳

Methinks not😉

Anyone who believes this guy was dressing up as assistants from other team and being non their sidelines, should contact me immediately, as I’ve got z lovely bridge in Brooklyn for sale😃

The loss of divisions made Iowa’s loss feel ever so slightly less meaningful. I subconsciously thought “oh wow, we might have a chance,” (in regards to the now defunct B1G West). Then I remembers it’s just one big old mess of teams and regardless of what happens we are not in contention for anything but fun times (not bitching, if it comes off that way).
Hopeful for divisions again.

Nobody recovered the ball as it laid in the end zone and it stayed in bounds, so UCF gets the ball at the 1 and scores on the next play.
They should make situations like that a touchback for the other team. A player that makes such a silly mistake shouldn’t get a break.

Basically any team with two losses is probably out of the race already. Which means it’s Ohio state, Oregon, Penn state, and Indiana

Illinois and wisconsin still in the mix but don’t think they’re great.

How long a leash does Sherrone Moore have? Harbaugh is a tough act to follow and he doesn't really have his own recruiting class in yet so the discussion may be premature, but that administration and fan base are not particularly patient.

Watched some of Georgia/Texas and I was not impressed with either Ewers or Beck. Of course, they were playing against defenses that will probably send a ton of guys to the pros.

Well I watched a lot of college football yesterday while doing chores (definitely beats the radio play by play from back in the day). How did the Gophers lose to Michigan? I mean absolutely manhandled until that 2nd half come back. Granted, Illinois is obviously pretty good but I hope we can win…the Fighting Berts have our number though, just like those stinking Hawkeyes (glad they lost!). Maryland, Rutgers and us are a similar. There is talent but not all around, there is some Jekyl and Hyde to them. Either team can win any matchup but at least the Gophers appear to be trending up.

Indiana is better than I thought, they looked good against a Nebby D that I thought looked good so far this year. They very well might be legit.

That Tennessee vs Bama game and Georgia vs Texas showed me how nuts folks from that area love college football. Fun to watch. Buddy’s kid goes to Tennessee he was at the game and he said he’s never seen anything like it, including going to the Big House in Michigan and Penn State. He said White Out Penn State was close but said it was better at Tennessee. Great game to boot.

Win next week and then go play the Fighting Berts and let’s lose the Hex!

He's a little bitch for sure but he's not wrong when he talks about player safety with a crowd essentially having the ability to reverse calls if they start throwing shit. That officiating crew shouldn't call another game for the rest of the season

He is working without a signed contract. He is going to end up with a worse record than Tracy Claeys had when he worked without a signed contract.

This position assumes the refs changed the call because of stuff being thrown.
Penalties are picked up all the time.

The gophers lost to Michigan because they had a slow start offensively and gave Michigan two possessions that started inside the Minnesota 15. I didn’t see a gopher team get manhandled, I saw a gopher team make massive mistakes that led to 14 points.
Otherwise it may have been a 7-3 game at half.

The gophers also can’t run the ball this year an Michigan has a great run defense. So bad matchup.

Maybe. They still have a really good defense.
They’re 2023 Iowa

But their schedule is brutal the rest of the way.

Good but not great. Their 2024 defense doesn’t approximate 2023 Iowa and has dropped off quite a bit in terms of yards per play allowed. Turnover margin went from first to worst. Not close to Iowa. They lead in TOP so there’s that…

I hate Kirby a lot right now and he’s definitely a little bitch, but I hate to say he is right. What I saw last night was embarrassing and now Texas gets to get looped with with the other UT :(
Kirby "Not Very" Smart is a total douchebag. I get the very untidy precedent that the reversed call establishes. That said, I'm a very old man and have watched a lot of football, and that call by the referee ranks among the worst I have seen. Absolutely offensive pass interference.
