That would explain why he only announced 4 Official Visits. Interesting.

The starting 5 consisted exclusively of Freshman and Sophomores, 3 freshman and 2 sophomores. Exactly how long did that group get to blend into a good/great team? 1 year. Not saying there is 0 value to having returning starters, and that team chemistry is not a big deal, all I'm saying is that Coach Cal hasn't learned a damn thing about not being able to get a bunch of youngsters to play together because his team "struggled" this past year. And recruits seem to agree with him/me.

You are underrating how much Terrence Jones and the other returning players helped that team. Yes they were only sophomores, but that year of experience went a long way in helping them lead that team.
 

Well I'll be damned. Tyus just isn't going to let us down easy. He's gonna break our hearts at the very end.
 

Hopefully he doesn't use the final official on Ohio State. When did MSU fall out of favor with Tyus? I thought he was pretty close with Izzo. It's nice that the odds of him playing for another Big Ten team are looking extremely unlikely at the moment.

You didn't read my post.

The initial post talked about how long it takes a group of men to come together to form a good/great team, used the time frame of "more than a year". My comment that the vast majority and if not all of the minutes played by UK basketball was done by unique sets of players to the prior year cannot be argued.

I'm not saying Terrence Jones wasn't a leader or that he didn't help, what I'm saying is that the argument that the 2011-2012 team having more time to gel than the 2012-2013 team isn't really relevant because the vast majority of the minutes played were played by Freshman or Sophomores who had no relationship with the freshman prior to that year.

I will say it again though, while I don't think odds are good he comes here ... I do not believe them to be zero.

How many best friends outside of basketball agree to college together only to wind up different places as they realize their own best interests? Can't imagine it being that far fetched for it to happen to basketball best friends.

I'd still say the package is very very likely, but it isn't a complete certainty by any means to me.

Izzo started recruiting other point guards several weeks ago (Tyler Ulis comes to mind) and it appears that he realized Tyus was not headed to East Lansing at that time.
 

I'm still convinced he's going to Duke. I'm not convinced that Okafor wants to go there too, though.
 



The conspiracy theorist in me is wondering if this talk about an official visit to Minnesota is only an effort by the Jones family to throw off the Duke scent. This way Tyus and Okafor can "enjoy the process" more than they have been.

You must be a Minnesota sports fan, right? If not, then you have not experienced enough heartbreak to think this way yet.

Not sure if you're joking, but if you really want to play conspiracy theorist, a more plausible conspiracy would be this -- Tyus keeps MN reasonably "in play" (unofficial visit, keeping possibility of official visit when he basically has one to "burn" anyway) until we get our own PG commit, which likely should be soon. At that point, he can say well, we have our PG so he's not a villain to effectively cross MN off his list.

Or instead of being a conspiracy theorist, you can believe what he says, which is simply that he hasn't decided yet and MN is still a possibility.

As for MSU and OSU, they're basically out of it for reasons previously discussed.

Gopher fan and Milwaukee Bucks fan. That's where I get my pessimism from. Unlike you Minnesota sports fans I at least have the Packers to keep me sane. :D

Think Pitino was in a good or bad mood yesterday? Man had to have woke up, slammed an energy drink, rocked out to some ACDC did a couple face slaps in the mirror, told his wife hes the man and ran out the door hootin and hollering.... Cause thats what everyone does before a big sale amirite?

jones is Duke or Kansas, there is not another option. Minnesota is in good shape with several nice point guards.If your a miracle junkie they do happen but the staffs at KU and Duke are convinced it is between them.

Like I have been saying only a fool would give up on recruiting an amazing kid like Tyus. Thank Goodness Pitino concurs with me. Projecting Tyus to go somewhere else is fine, quitting on him while you are on his list and he is talking to you is asinine.
