That would explain why he only announced 4 Official Visits. Interesting.
Not sure how you figure I seem insulted. And also, if I ever do feel insulted on a message board, please hit me with a tack hammer.
The starting 5 consisted exclusively of Freshman and Sophomores, 3 freshman and 2 sophomores. Exactly how long did that group get to blend into a good/great team? 1 year. Tell me all you want about having returning starters yadda yadda yadda, the truth of it is, a vast majority, if not all of the minutes played that year were played by unique sets of 5 guys that didn't have a year to blend together.
Not saying there is 0 value to having returning starters, and that team chemistry is not a big deal, all I'm saying is that Coach Cal hasn't learned a damn thing about not being able to get a bunch of youngsters to play together because his team "struggled" this past year. And recruits seem to agree with him/me.
No I am not.You are underrating how much Terrence Jones and the other returning players helped that team. Yes they were only sophomores, but that year of experience went a long way in helping them lead that team.

Please try to keep the Tyus updates out of this UK/Coach Cal thread...
Hopefully he doesn't use the final official on Ohio State. When did MSU fall out of favor with Tyus? I thought he was pretty close with Izzo. It's nice that the odds of him playing for another Big Ten team are looking extremely unlikely at the moment.
The conspiracy theorist in me is wondering if this talk about an official visit to Minnesota is only an effort by the Jones family to throw off the Duke scent. This way Tyus and Okafor can "enjoy the process" more than they have been.

You must be a Minnesota sports fan, right? If not, then you have not experienced enough heartbreak to think this way yet.
Gopher fan and Milwaukee Bucks fan. That's where I get my pessimism from. Unlike you Minnesota sports fans I at least have the Packers to keep me sane.
Reid Travis was also with on the visit, and according to this article, the topic of them playing together has come up.

Ellenson was there too.

I'll be darned but Jones is keeping the door open, I'm guessing he commits to Duke, unlikely but could we have a Humprhies/Reichert reversal before all is said and done.
This is pretty pathetic on our part. I mean, come on students, what the hell.
"Jones said he and Reid weren't spotted on the Minnesota campus by any students."
Like I have been saying only a fool would give up on recruiting an amazing kid like Tyus. Thank Goodness Pitino concurs with me. Projecting Tyus to go somewhere else is fine, quitting on him while you are on his list and he is talking to you is asinine.jones is Duke or Kansas, there is not another option. Minnesota is in good shape with several nice point guards. If your a miracle junkie they do happen but the staffs at KU and Duke are convinced it is between them.

STrib: Tyus Jones says he's considering an official visit at Minnesota
“I’m just leaving things open,” Jones told the Star Tribune. “I might take an official to Minnesota still, I just don’t know as of now.”
“They just have two different styles, two different approaches to things,” Jones said. “Coach Pitino and his staff, they’re a little bit younger and they do things different, so it’s definitely a different feel – just how they’re running the team and how they’re recruiting myself. ... I just like how enthused they are about the new opportunities for themselves, especially Coach Pitino, how hungry they are and how excited they are just to get going and get headed in the right direction.”
