Transfer list possibilities, Spring 2020

I'm hoping that may come true. I'd like to see a good year. A lot of it will be dependent on if all transfers this year will be immediately eligible. Anybody have any info. on this?
I saw the immediate eligibilty one-time transfer rule won't be put into effect until 2021-2022 season if it is passed.

Agreed. My feeling would def be dependent on immediate eligibility of said transfers. That said, I feel like this is year it makes sense to allow that. But again, we are talking about the NCAA at the end of the day. So...?

Liam Robbins is a big get for this program if it ends up happening. I really think he'd be a 2 time all-B1G type guy. A second important piece is an impact guard/wing type. I'd like that to be a proficient 3-pt shooter, but I'll throw another name out there: Luther Muhammad.

Modeling after Virginia?
A combo of Gabe and Luther would probably make the BEST lockdown defensive duo in the country, and throwing in Robbins' superb rim protection, likely a lineup that suffocates opposing offenses. Gabe and Luther are also guys who are streaky from 3 (struggled this season) but when they get it going, they can REALLY connect from behind the stripe.

Lastly, as bad as it sounds to say, this program could really benefit from a marginal/role player transferring out if Pitino wants to seriously upgrade this roster with an influx of talent.

With all the negativity regarding the recruiting, The Scheme having traction and canceling March madness - this is a perfect time for the NCAA to grant immediately eligibility now. Huge PR win for them and you'd have people talking college hoop incessantly.

Bam problem solved!

I just saw Luther's put his name in.

Agree with the last paragraph as well. I'm kinda surprised it has happened yet.

7-footer from Drake, averaged 14pt/7reb as a soph is tranferring. Iowa is the early favorite. Kid's hometown is same as Ed Conroy. Maybe Conroy can work some magic. He'd be a nice get, especially if the NCAA gives a thumbs up to the "one-time transfer without sitting out" in the June vote.

Our last transfer in from Drake turned out to be a pretty good deal for us, and for him too. Here's to you Joey

I assume this is confirmation of the Robbins commitment? Would be awesome! I assume that means Udeze/Markusson are not coming here.

per Evan:

Minnesota had strong ties to Robbins, a native of Davenport, Iowa. Robbins is the nephew of Minnesota Associate Head Coach Ed Conroy.

"Just with the unprecedented times and my uncle on the staff and my cousin on the team to be surrounded by family during this time will be good while I challenge myself at the next level and coach Pitino gave me an awesome opportunity to do that," Robbins explained.

"I’m very close with my uncle," he said. "It’s cool and it’s kind of a dream to play for my uncle and coach Pitino. Everyone knows the Pitino name, and it’s a respected name and it’s really a special situation for me."

As a sophomore Robbins averaged 14.1 points and 7.1 rebounds a game, while shooting 49.9-percent from the field. His numbers improved significantly from his freshman season, where he averaged 4.1 points and 2.7 rebounds a game.

Go Gophers!!

I don't want to even entertain that idea, but this is the NCAA we're talking about. I'll scream if this is Marcus Carr 2.0 where 90% of the waivers were granted but his wasn't.

Gophers fans have to hope the NCAA passes the one-time transfer rule in the scheduled June vote. That would make it automatic.

Drake is not happy about this transfer at all, so the Gophers will likely not get any help from them. That was the main hangup with Carr. Pitt fought it to the death. Drake could, too.

They're reporting the one-time transfer rule won't be in effect until the 2021-22 season if it is passed. We need a waiver.

That would be reallllllly interesting if he does not get a waiver. Do you keep Pitino? Especially if you add another potential sit out kid? Seems so appropriate for the Pitino era.

An outside observer might conclude the family connection and speed of decision smells like tampering. We know it would never happen here, but those jealous suitors just can't keep their minds from racing.

Virus worry and being closer to family, here we go...

NCAA claims "you can't talk basketball with your nephew when you see him. Put the wire on him boys" Haha I already see it. NCAA, ridiculous.

Another name I would be curious about is Grant Sherfield. We were in his final 2 a year ago and he is already transferring out of Wichita State, have to believe we would be recruiting him

Glad to see the Robbins commit. He should be a good addition to the program. I can’t get excited just yet, however. Pitino putting all his eggs in the eligibility waiver basket again is a risky move, considering how the last one played out. Also very dependent on the Carr decision. They need Carr back AND Robbins in 2020 to be a potential .500 conference team.
