In 1977, I got a Carlton Fisk card in one of my Topps baseball packs. At 9 years old, it was the coolest card I had ever seen in my life; plus, he looked exactly like a popular guy that lived in our small town so that was enough for me to become a Pudge devotee.
Over the next several years I became more of Twins fan, but I would check in time-to-time to see how Pudge was doing. I'd also pick up a Topps pack here and there, and even in my early 20s I still got excited when I thumbed through the cards and found a Fisk. I was a true fan.
However, the only time I was disappointed with him was in the early 90s when he didn't pop a young, already-arrogant Deion Sanders in the mouth for scratching a dollar sign in the batters box, and later for not running out a pop fly. I should give him credit for restraint, but I wanted to see that soooooooo badly. Yes, I wanted Carlton Fisk to punch Deion Sanders in the face. And to this day I still wish it had happened.

He seems to have a lot of transfers already transferring, is this something other programs are experiencing? Or is he selling them false goods to bring them in and then they are finding out the truth is far different once they arrive?

That bothers you? Enough to still remember it?

Yeah. But then again Deion has given us many other reasons over the years to make him unlikable.
And I'm sorry that it bothers you that it bothers me.
It doesn't bother me, nice assumption though. Always gotta have a comeback anytime someone says something about a post. It just seems like even if he did it currently, big deal. But doing it like 30 years ago and you still remember.... What's so sacred about the batter's box?

Yep, really.

What's more concerning than someone making a dollar sign in the sand is someone in their early 50's still thinking about it all these years later. Are ya gonna get back at the kid who hurled a spit ball at you in 3rd grade, or are you over that one?
Again, I'm sorry that it bothers you that it bothers me. It's not your fault.

Now you are on the list.

I don't think this ends will for Coach Prime. In high school and lower college ball, talent can put your team over the top. In upper D1, it is about coaching and development and I think a lot of his players will skip town before the coaching and development catch up with the talent.

All that glitters is not gold. It is a crying shame when some players are left out without a scholarship.

This. After this colorado mess, the NCAA should do something, like make the scholly guaranteed for 4 years, so if some of these players can't find new schools, they can still finish their education at Colorado.

Hopefully all these players find new opportunities.

Deion is ordained by God, so he can do whatever he wants. Need I remind everyone of the beatitude that says, "Blessed are the bombastic and haughty, for they shall coach college football."?

I believe they need to have limitations on what a coach can do to push kids out. They shouldn’t be able to haze or bully a kid into leaving. Not sure that is what is happening, but seems highly likely that it does happen.

I don't disagree with the sentiment but I don't know how you could possibly enforce something like that. Would potentially lead to a lot of messy investigations to figure out if the coach or player is telling the truth.

They need to investigate things, that’s why nothing gets enforced.

It will be interesting to see how this all plays out. I can only imagine what the Gopher roster would look like if PJ Fleck left this past off season under the present rules. I have a hunch there would be dozens and dozens of players heading out the door as well as there are many players such as Tanner Morgan who came here to play on his team. That team would get wrecked in a hurry!! Hopefully the NCAA takes control of the situation!
To your point about what Gopher football would look like if it had happen here, look no further than the basketball team.

I think, technically, they already are guaranteed and he can't actually kick them off the scholarship/team, unless they do some kind of misconduct or don't stay academically eligible.

All these players want the hell out of there, probably for mixtures of playing time and just wanting to get away from the hot mess reasons.

I understand your sentiments, but I’m not sure it works in the free transfer world. Players can’t have it both ways in terms of the security of a guaranteed scholarship and free transfers. Negotiations consider security versus potential opportunities all the time and people negotiating need to know for themselves what they value most. The system has decided freedom of transfer is more important than security of scholarships. I’ve opposed this from day one for the reasons stated in this thread because I think it hurts for more players than it helps.
