Official "Viva Las Vegas!!" Thread - Trip Plans, Ticket Qs, Tailgating, Casino Advice

I can't wait to meet all of you in Vegas! We should definitely plan pre and post game parties, lets get it done! Maybe we could come up with the transportation issues to and from the game as a group. Were at TI. I can't wait to meet you Youngstown gopher, hope it happens! FYI I have seven season tickets now so if you're ever in the cities this fall......

Likewise, I'll make sure we exchange a way to get a hold of one another, I'll also have my lap top with me to check in on Gopherhole and see what's buzzing. My wife and I are strongly considering making the drive to the Twin Cities this fall if the money is there :) I'm so hype for Vegas it's unreal. I'm like a eight year old waiting for Santa.

FYI - my buddy was in Vegas this week and the hotel he was at had the line at Gophers -7.5

Anyone else staying at the Hard Rock? We'll be getting in Thursday morning and plan to pre-game by the pool all afternoon before jumping on the bus with a couple cases of beer, and walking through the tailgate lots like vagabonds in hopes of finding others doing the same, or friendly faces we can join.

That's actually a good idea...just grab some beer and head to the tailgate lot with no plans. Hopefully somebody has some extra cooler space for a few hours. We were planning on a tailgate party at the Spearmint Rhino, but now think that may be better for a post-game celebration.

Got our tickets today from the Gopher Ticket Office! Looks like our group of 16 (I'm with MarkieMark) will be in Section 204. Anyone else get their tickets yet? If your seats are near us, feel free to swing by and join the party.

So far it looks like we will have Gopher fans in 3 sections close together. Might be a good opportunity to start the Ski U Mah cheer with 103 starting the Ski, 204 is the U, and 104 is the Mah. All it takes is 1 person in each section to get it started.

We have 16 in our group. Sec. 104 rows 13 and 14. I like the idea of the ski u mah chant. I doubt it will work, but lets give it a try.

Sec. 103 =======SKI
Sec. 204 =======U
Sec. 104 =======MAH

Got my little gold envelope today sec 140 row 40. All I can say is... MAH!!!!!!!!

People might be looking at you funny.

Only the one who is sitting on his hands. This should be a good chance to get the hard core group doing this cheer. Then it can carry over to TCF stadium. MAH!

When looking at a map of Sam Boyd and seeing where the sections align it might be better to do this...
204....SKI
103....U
104...MAH

204 looks to be the smallest section in the corner of the endzone and then 103 is a long sliver of a section getting closer to the goal line and 104 is a pretty large section right on the goal line. It looks like section 104 is dedicated to making this work. JoeDirt and DLW will be rocking the MAH with me and my group of 6. Pregameatblarneys is tailgating with me and his group of 4 so they will get the SKI going. Anyone in 103 willing to give the U a shot? That's gonna be the best part IMO.
Then next question is...When do we start it? I vote for first defensive stand when UNLV gets into the huddle.

Sounds like a solid plan to me AuEG04. Once the Ski's get it started we'll be ready with the Mah's!

I like it!

Bus/ public transportation questions for Las Vegas trip

Just got back from So. Las Vegas area. Pretty much 110 for a high and 85 to 90 for a low everyday.

For those who were wondering about the bus system in Las Vegas, it's not too bad. If you are staying on the strip, and want to get from one end to the other, it's not a bad option. For seven dollars, you can get a 24 hour pass. This will allow you to travel back and forth between downtown (Fremont Experience) and the strip. Driving the strip after about four or five is a joke. Stop and go. It could take close to an hour to go from Mandalay Bay to the Stratosphere.

Everything is based on the two hubs which are the Bonneville Transfer Terminal (north) and the South Strip Transfer Terminal (SSTT)

Most of the regional buses carry route maps, but they do not have the schedule. You have to look that up online, or at the specific stop at the terminals or the airport. You can pay cash on most of the buses except the express buses. You have to have a prepaid pass/ transfer as there is no farebox onboard. Transit security will spot check, so just be aware. This is where the $7 all day pass comes in handy.

Summing it up, if you stay on the strip, you won't really need a car. If you venture off of the strip, you need to know the schedule. Buses stop running early off of the beaten path. Missing the last bus could result in up to a $40 - $60 taxi ride.

I think it's been discussed previously in this thread but I could not find it when quickly going back. From anyone with UNLV game experience, what is the scalping situation like? Will it be difficult finding tickets prior to the game or would I be better off buying them now (stubhub or wherever)?

We're in the "U" section, with 4 seats in 103 row 30, and 4 in row 31.
It's good that you are up a little higher like us. I think if we can get it going, the noise will travel down to the front rows and they will get interested and keep it going.
16 Days, 12 hours, and 5 minutes till kickoff, but who's counting?

Probably not difficult to scalp. Being the first game of the year most UNLV fans will still have some hope, so there might not be that many people selling. Usually the prices drop near game time.

Good to know. I figure worst case, if no tickets are available I will head to the ticket office to purchase one.

Is there a specific place where tickets are scalped? Any chance this game will be a sellout? Thinking little to no chance but thought I would ask.
