And what makes you think they'd get there? Remember, they no longer have the B1G refs...every year they do this, and even when their bracket totally breaks down they lose to someone they shouldn't, like getting beat by some #12 seed who they face in the Sweet 16 after facing no one higher than a 10 seed to get that far.

not sure quarter filled barn will do much to impress a recruit

You don't adjust expectations when you get to watch your new players perform on the court rather than read about them in a season preview?

not sure how much of a blessing it would be when generally the Barn is half empty for NIT games.

Agreed. The real reason we didn't get in isn't because Mo missed the shot, it's because the officials missed two fouls on Northwestern on that possession. :)

Also, 25 minutes ago there was already a thread on Buckyville smugly boasting about how we didn't make it. Because that's a bigger deal than your own team getting a 2 seed.

No blessing at all. In fact, I'd try my hardest not to bring in a recruit for an NIT game in front of 1/3 full arena (which is true almost everywhere and not indicative of Minnesota having bad fans)
 

sure the NIT blows in comparison to the ncaa tourney, but the barn doesn't need to be half empty go and support the Hometown team for their efforts. I'm with the Gophs thru good and bad.

I'm not talking about adjusting expectations, Max. I was talking about preseason expectationsl A lot of GH'ers said nothing good.

Basketball violations.....too many southern Republicans on the selection committee, that's why North Carolina State
got in......we had a wrestler as a governor. ....selection committee thinks we're a province in Canada....we haven't
been to a Rose Bowl in 53 years.....members of the selection committee were getting blown by Iowa girls.....These
are the reasons we didn't get in....

You forgot the one about all of our intellectuals spending the winter is Florida.
 

Why do people keep referencing the "first four out"? It was just a few "notable" teams that CBS noticed. We have no idea how close they were.

Gumble said 'there are the 1st four out.' They don't normally release that, and they just go by RPI (we had the 2nd highest RPI not taken after USM). Maybe CBS just shafted us. We were never mentioned once.

Yes, but, wouldn't one consider it strange that the #7 team in a 12-team B1G, which is considered the top (or close-to) the best NCAABB conference, would not be notable?

Or one would think that if the A10 could get 6 teams in, that the B1G deserved at least 7.

There seems to be a bigotry against all things Big Ten in the national media; I suspect it has to do with the Big Ten Network, and the fact that all of these other conferences have now aligned with major media outlets. For example, hasn't the SEC aligned directly with the ESPN network of channels? SEC Storied is one of the main non-live shows that is produced by ESPN. CBS aligns with the Big East. NBC has Notre Dame, which is now part of the ACC. Meanwhile, the B1G unfortunately aligned with Fox, which has various shortcomings as a network (mainly, questionable integrity) and certainly fails to promote anything Big Ten on its main network. I don't know if this bigotry plays any part, but think of how the B1G earned a split with the ACC this year in the B1G/ACC Challenge, even while aligned against onlythe ACC's top 12 teams. Yet the ACC earned more respect in the Tournament selection.
 



Do they have camera's set up at the various team headquarters for the NIT selection show too? LOL.
 


Hope we go to the ship so we can get experience playing there before the preseason NIT.
