Official Selection Sunday Reaction Thread: No NCAA, NIT Bound?

This guy is going off about strength of schedule being so important and then we get left out with a top 10 SoS.

The committee may have been in another world this year, but don't blame them for us not making it. We lost at home to Northwestern and Illinois, and at Purdue. That's why we didn't get in.

Yes, two OT losses, either of which would have sprung us. Lots of ways to slice this.

At the end of the day we gotta get to .500 in the conference and take care of the easier games. Well let's go win the NIT then....

not terrible if you look at NC State beat 3 RPI top 50 teams at road/neutral sites. Gophers didn't have any road/neutral victories of that type.

I believe Richmond was right around 50 until they lost their leading scorer to an injury.

I have to believe it comes down to Minnesota's inability to get road wins that were from the top 50 RPI

They admitted the "eye test" played at least a small role. Pretty sure we failed that test horribly.

I really think they look at other models than RPI, even though they might not want to admit it. They probably look at myriad things in order to get it as right as they can get it. There's no formula. There's some subjectivity. It's a difficult task. I can't blame them for leaving the Gophers out.

Richmond finished with a RPI in the 70s. by the numbers that win not as good as it once was. nothing the Gophers can do about that. just how this thing is set up.

I really came down to one more win. Its easy to point a finger at NW or Illinois, but we had MSU on the ropes, Purdue we should have won, Michigan the first game of the year...lots of opportunities. Its where we ended up. I say Go Gophers...make some noise in the NIT!

Maybe this will be the last year we will be a perennial bubbler.... Maybe.

The committee did a terrible job this year. BYU getting a 10 seed is a joke, Creighton getting a 3 seed while Louisville is a 4 is another joke. NC State has no business being in the tournament ahead of the Gophers and I don't think Iowa does either. What really gets me is somehow the committee took 6 teams out of the A-10 and just 6 out of the B1G with the B1G having a play-in team and an 11 seed. Before beating Syracuse in the ACC tournament, NC State's best win of the season was Pittsburgh. For the guy who likes to talk about 7-10th best wins or whatever, NC State's SIXTH best win was Eastern Kentucky.

What's really strange is if you believe that first four out graphic, the Gophers wouldn't even have been in if Mo Walker made a layup against Northwestern.

That's one of the biggest surprises to me. We weren't even close.

Did it ever occur to any of you that going into the season, none of us espected the make the dance???

Gophers had plenty of chances to get it done. didn't happen. team exceeded expectations and being in the conversation for a bid right until the end is a bright spot for the season as a whole.

So are we going to be a number 4 seed in the NIT?

I got nothing against the committee for leaving the gophers out, at the end of the day we all knew it was a long shot, but some of these seeding and teams that made it, are just straight up hysterical, msu and louisville a 4 seed? dayton and byu not even having to play in the play in game? Then the guy explaining why he picked what schools compared to other schools completely contradicted himself multiple times

The Gophers needed one big time road win or two more mediorce wins. MSU game hangs its shadow, as does NW and Purdue.

I think its kinda bush league to say we didn't get in because of Mo missing a lay up AT THE END OF A GAME...AT HOME...AGAINST A TEAM WE SHOULD BEAT. Too many other errors got us to that point.

Yeah. Getting left out with an RPI of 40 and 10 B1G wins would have been almost inexplicable though.

God.. The thought of Wisconsin in the Final Four is soooo depressing!

Wichita State will be the first 1 seed to fall.

oregon is a terrible matchup for them, thats a team full of athletes, and bo lead teams rely a lot on coaching, but he won't have a lot of time to prepare for that game, which is why wisconsin never lives up to their expections in the tourneys. Talent is important when you lack time to prepare for games, and wisconsin has not been good at recruiting athletes, they are just a very well coached team, as much as I hate to give bo credit

Just took a peak over there, hell, I think half of them are printing final 4 tee shirts already. They have lost 2 of their last 3. They are more than beatable in a tourney.

I don't know that one more win would have even gotten us in if we were so far out of being selected.

The Gophers best get a high seed in the nit, if so and we get home games maybe its a blessing in disguise in that we can bring in recruits for official visits to the barn.
