Can someone explain to me why so many people are surprised by BYU as a 10 seed? They have an RPI of 30 and a SOS of 25. This isn't a Southern Miss situation where they built a high RPI on the foundation of a weak schedule.
My understanding is that injuries can affect the seeding. Not whether they make it in or not, but the seeding. Many pundits had them as one of the "last ones in." With Collinsworth (their best player) going down for the season with an ACL during the WCC tournament, many are wondering how they could have been made a 10 seed. (Essentially means the committee thought that BYU is better than at least 10 at-large teams without Collinsworth.) I think the complaints are more with the 10 seed, than with making it into the tournament.
