***OFFICIAL OREGON AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Fantastic to watch. No idea where this came from.

I have to ask again - What is the Cochran situation? We could really use him if we're going to take this thing seriously.

*I also apologize for dogging on Garcia. He has been great and was big time today.
I watched Cochran walking around on the sideline, it didn't look like he is moving that great to me.

The idea that Ben Johnson is a bad coach reminds me about the egg and cholesterol. Eating an egg for most of human history was normal. Then we learned about cholesterol. Suddenly, we became afraid of the egg. We stopped eating them. Then we learned that eggs are actually good for the heart and we eat them again. What should have happened is we should have said, we need to study the egg and what happens to the heart before we rush to judgement. More people would be alive today if they never stopped eating eggs. if we fire Ben, we are rushing to judgement, just when we might be finding out that Ben is good for the team. Take it or leave it. I don't care. I am going to wait and see because I am not in a big hurry. Wait 15 minutes. Things might just change for the better.

I, too, thought Garcia was way overrated based on earlier games. I stand corrected.

Garcia's problem is that he just doesn't seem to bring the same intensity every night. But it feels like things are changing over the past 5 games or so. I think he has finally decided he is the best player on the court and is actually looking to take over games in a way he just hasn't consistently done in the past.

We need to do whatever it takes to get that NIT money rolling, it will be impossible to get stability at the program if we can't compete financially, this team has something right now, the NIT support is a must.

Edit: NIL

Practices are never the real competition. Until you learn that, you will never be a really good prognosticator.
Practice makes you sharp. The second teams purpose is to humiliate the 1st team until they pick up their game. This intensity should have been happening in the summer and throughout the season. There is no excuse for coming out and playing like a second rate D3 team until January.

I haven’t posted for a while since my faith has been lost. I followed Gopherhole daily for years and when you lose it became weekly and now monthly. Hope we can change that going forward. Women’s basketball and volleyball have done well. Sorry I bleed maroon and gold but the absence of wins for this program has been difficult. Hope they turn it on going forward and surprise us all.

LOL.

This has to be a bit.

Nobody is this clueless.

The sequence with about 3 minutes left in the first half where the ball touched 4 or 5 sets of hands in quick succession moving from the inside beach out culminating with a Patterson 3 at the buzzer was as pretty of a sequence as I've seen out of this team. Nice to see the team play at a big ten level.

Good Lord, how retarded. This is so #MinnesotaSports

I was at the game. Fun game. I’ll be honest. I was surprised we won, especially after we let them back in and blew an 18 point lead. But, credit the players for maintaining composure, Fox and Garcia for monster game, and coach Ben Johnson for a defensive strategy that took Bittle and Shelsted off their games and for having the Gophers ready to play right out of the gate. The fast start put the Ducks on their heels right away. Early in the season this team had a hard time finishing. Ben got blamed for that. Give him credit for having these guys in a mental state to finish. And, best crowd of the season! Go Gophers!

I think what a lot of people dogging on this team and coach need to realize is we have arguably three players who deserve to be on a big ten roster. it helps that one is easily all-conference but this team is overachieving right now so enjoy it don’t ask why things weren’t gelling in October.

I agree and this has been a big problem in the BJ era. The first half of the season the Gophers look out of shape and get run off the court in the 2nd half. Then when they finally get in game shape by the 2nd half of the season, they can actually compete.

The one hand pass in the air from Asuma to Garcia made me rewind and watch again. From the corner to the top of the key on a line. That was impressive IMO. Then Garcia, not forcing things, seeing Patterson open on the wing. Garcia's shot would've been a good look, but Patterson's was better.

I’ve never been more positively surprised by an in-season turn around (for MN sports teams) than what we’ve witnessed over the last 10 days. If we finish strong I commit to getting more NIL money to Ben’s boys. I doubt others agree but if we theoretically won 4 more in a row I’d think we’d be on the “in” side of the bubble (Mich State and Illinois are 2 of those 4 games)…
