***OFFICIAL OREGON AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Again.....I'm all for scheduling a tougher non conference schedule. My point has been entirely about the uber-negative posters who desperately needed something to whine about during the three game winning streak. Either Ben Johnson is a historically bad coach....which I commonly see....or this team isn't that bad and we actually would have had a shot to make the tournament if we played a tougher non-con schedule (which I disagree with considering the way this team looked in November & December). Pick a lane......because you're swerving all over the place to find something to complain about.

1. Ben has been historically bad. Unfortunately the results back that up.

2. For him he just had a historically good month in January. We shot up about 50 spots in the NET and got 3Q1 wins.

3. Had we played a better OOC schedule, we may have been in position to be in the mix, with another historically great month for this coach. That's my point. I don't know how I can be any more clear than that. Will we have another month like January, my guess would be no, but if by some miracle we did, it's annoying to have no chance because of the OOC schedule.

Once again, the only way the noncon schedule can be excused--the only plausible way your rationalization works--is if Johnson knew, prior to scheduling it, that it wouldn’t matter.
That his team would be so bad that the nonconference schedule wouldn't end up hurting him.

Saying now, in late January, that it ended up not mattering is irrelevant to WHEN IT WAS SCHEDULED.

So you are in effect just whining about Johnson

Per you, he knew his team would suck. Months before the season started. That's the only excuse for the schedule.

1. At 3-6 (now 3-7) in conference, the Gophers still had a ton of work to do to get into actually NCAA talks

2. The way the Gophers were playing at the start of the year, a tougher noncon would have only ended in more losses.

3. The only reason posters started whining about the noncon schedule is because the three game win streak temporarily dampened their ability to bitch and moan about Johnson.

They beat Yale 3 days after losing to North Texas and 12 days before losing to Wichita State. Either way, I'll take my chances against similar like teams and hope we win a coin flip game. We should have beaten Wichita State if not for the end of game coaching error.

Or people realized, wow, we just got 3 Q1 wins in a row and looked like a fringe tournament team in the month of January, if we somehow match that from a quality standpoint in February, it's a shame our shit OOC will keep us out of the discussion. Maybe we'll finish 4-16 in conference and it won't matter, or maybe we'll finish 10-10, and look back and realize what could have been.

Wouldn't that force you to admit that Ben Johnson isn't as bad a coach as you claim.....if the OOC schedule is what keeps us from the tournament?
