***OFFICIAL OREGON AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Lots of BIG games to play. Pre-season I was bullish on this squad as Ben brought in a ton of lower level experience but no one that really stood out. Then add in Asuma. Guys that would develop thwir game and compliment Garcia, MM and Fox and hopefully convert their experience to become ready for the BIG level competition. That happened with Hawkins last season.

Is that what we are now seeing?

Well, for the time being anyway, yes. Hope it continues but I expect some bumps on the way to the finish.

Fantastic to watch. No idea where this came from.

I have to ask again - What is the Cochran situation? We could really use him if we're going to take this thing seriously.

*I also apologize for dogging on Garcia. He has been great and was big time today.

The team has been working to gel. There is a always a latent period where new players need to get to know their teammates and understand their role. Here we are witnessing them beginning to gel. Is that good coaching or bad? I don't think it matters as much as you.
That's what summer is for. Every team faces the same issue as the Gophers, yet they don't take until mid January to figure it out. We have to stop making excuses.

What is this feeling that I am feeling? It's like the sun is peeking out after a heavy rain. Like fresh popcorn at the movie theater.

For most people.....I'd say that feeling is called optimism. For you.....I'd say immediately call 9-1-1 and have them test for rabies.

BS....it takes teams time to gel on the court in actual games. It just took this team a lot longer than it should have to start playing together at a higher level but you can't simulate actual game conditions in practice, it just isn't the same.

As to your gripe about storming the court....that is just a thing in 2024-25....fans are looking for any reason to go on the court and celebrate with the players....a ranked win seems to be all it takes.

^^^^^^^
The understatement of the year.

Yep....with a veteran group like we have it was reasonable to expect them to gel much more quickly but for whatever reason that just didn't happen. Something seemed to click against Maryland and they started playing much better overall.

They dug a huge hole, one it seems unlikely they will be able to dig themselves out of....but at the very least they are finally playing quality basketball and getting rewarded for doing so.

Practices are never the real competition. Until you learn that, you will never be a really good prognosticator.

Man, now I really wish we had those North Texas, Wichita State and OSU games back.

Not sure what flipped it, but it's been pretty neat to see, even as someone who's wanted Johnson fired going on two years now.
I have wanted him fired for sure, but this is giving me pause. The talent is not great but the effort has been fantastic of late and they are beginning to show some semblance of an offense.

Nobody is "making excuses". You are attacking a strawman. Posters are simply trying to figure out what has changed from the beginning of the year until now.

That guy is a player. He has really grown on me despite the shooting issue. He can play most positions and he is the best defender we have had here in years.

His offensive game has been night and day better than where it was at the start of the season. But it's the defensive end where he's irreplaceable. He's a smart defender and can match up with nearly anyone he gets switched to. Reminds me a bit of Damian Johnson in that sense.

The sequence with about 3 minutes left in the first half where the ball touched 4 or 5 sets of hands in quick succession moving from the inside back out culminating with a Patterson 3 at the buzzer was as pretty of a sequence as I've seen out of this team. Nice to see the team play at a big ten level.

Yep...he does the little things that so many players are unwilling to do. Have also noticed that a lot of times when they need to break the press he is the guy with the ball in his hands. Just a good solid all around player.

Great crowd. Almost like the old days. Fun day at the Barn!
Awesome that the team played well with a nice crowd there as well. Sending the fans home happy is always a good thing. Hasn't been a ton of that over the past few seasons.

Remember there was some fellas saying the Gophers wouldn't get a single Big Ten win this season?
