Official NCAA Tournament Games Thread, Buzzer Beater Reaction, Bracket Analysis, etc

The Gophers side of the South bracket is wide open now!

Go Gophers!!

Well, there's that scrappy Florida squad that's still hanging around...but let's get by them and cruise past Oklahoma/FGCU.

Here's a quick breakdown of how the multi-bid conferences did in the Round of 64 compared to how they should have done (defined as the lower seed being expected to win).

aaaaaaaaaaaActualaaExpected
A-10aaaaaa 5-0aaaa 3-2
ACCaaaaaaa 3-1aaaa 3-1
Big 12aaaa 2-3aaaa 3-2
Big 10aaaa 6-1aaaa 6-1
Big Eastaa 3-5aaaa 6-2
MVCaaaaaaa 2-0aaaa 1-1
MWCaaaaaaa 2-2aaaa 4-0
Pac 12aaaa 3-2aaaa 2-3
SECaaaaaaa 2-1aaaa 1-2
WCCaaaaaaa 1-1aaaa 1-1

As you can see the best performer has been the A-10 with a couple other conferences doing 1 game better than expected. The worst performer? Definitely the Big East, followed by the MWC.

Good stuff. I think you missed one for the ACC though. Should be 3-1 for both.

Didn't catch the FGCU game, but I just watched the highlights. Holy bleep!! That team has some juice and then some. They frighten me. They were humiliating the Hoyas with their athleticism. They might not be finished.

When I saw them in January, I thought the same thing. Hard to tell based one viewing against an average opponent, but I knew that night that Brown was a guy who could take over a game. You are right, they may not be done, but 15 to Sweet 16 is a big jump.

Take that Barkley!

I watched those highlights again, and you do have to take into account that Georgetown didn't really show up. It was a matador defense layup drill on a few of those highlights. That said, you still have to have something going for you to beat someone into submission the way they did.

Should have seen it coming.. Georgetown always performs poorly in the tournament. It was just 3 years ago that they lost in the first round to Ohio, which was also a 15-2 upset. 2 of the worst losses in tournament history on their heads.

Also, technically, the A-10 is 6-0 since LaSalle had to win a play-in game too

Now Barkley is picking Memphis over Michigan State. I am skeptical of anybody picking against Izzo.

I am skeptical of anyone picking Memphis. Wow. Has he watched Memphis play at all this season?

Yes that is true, but Matt1067 clarified it with the "round of 64" stipulation.

Michigan up by 22 over Shaka and VCU with 12 minutes left...

The regional pod system really creates some dramatic home court advantages. We'll see if it helps Michigan State in the second half.

I feel like the rims in all of these games are a lot more unforgiving than the regular season venues.

Wow, Nix and Appling going at each other in the huddle, had to be separated by student managers. Izzo was none too happy .

Why they have NBA guys doing college basketball stuff is beyond me. I don't mind Greg Anthony, and I usually like Smith and Barkley, but they have been brutal to listen to.

Pulling big time for Colt45, no hard feelings about the big guy transferring. BEAT LOUISVILLE!

Louisville a bunch of thugs.

Absolutely total BS on the officiating . 10 second call.. Ridiculous !!!

Louisville is second in the state of Kentucky however in terms of number of thugs.

What makes them thugs?

I was going off the comment two above mine, I just forgot to quote it. I was referring to Kentucky having more thuggish players. To answer your question, they are thuggish because of their sense of entitlement and their attitudes. But that's just how I see it.

Colorado State should get the ball to Colt45 more. He's done good things when they actually get him the ball.
