*** OFFICIAL GOPHERS-PURDUE GAME THREAD ***

Well it's certainly the most important. The second most important is big 10 record. And he gets a big fat F in both of those.

The 2nd most important is the overall record. Performing well against the entire schedule is more important than playing well just in conference. The Gophers went 8-10 against arguably the best NCAA conference of the last 25 years. Disappointing? Yes. Fire-worthy? For 99.9999% of all other programs and fanbases: no.

People outside the state laugh at the notion that Minnesota should fire Tubby.

You cant be serious??? They just lost back to back games to below .500 teams. They probably could not beat Penn state on a neutral floor. Keep them out of the tournament, decline the NIT invitation. Lets move on with the program. New hire and practice facility should be the top two priorities.
HAHAHA, your a joke and not even worth the time it would take to explain.

While teams we were supposed to be better than this year (Wisconsin & Michigan State) finished with at least 11 wins.

Something tells me AustinPowers isn't your first or only name on GH.

And that's really where the argument should start and stop. The expectations for this program became absolutely ridiculous. MSU has more individual talent than Minnesota does. Not sure how anyone could argue against that.

It's to bad the fan base is built on bandwagon fans.

Seriously? Michigan State does not have more talent than us. They have better coaching. What is your argument for Wisconsin? Other than Dekker, we are better top to bottom. We were supposed to be in the mix for top 3 after Michigan and Indiana. Everyone said it. The national media. The local media. Not just Gopher fans.

And that's why I think we have a very little shot at a guy like Shaka. If people think we're very lucky to have Tubby while we continue to finish in the bottom half of the Big Ten, then doesn't that show what people really think of our program?

You can't honestly believe MSU doesn't have more talent than MN? I agree Izzo > Tubby, but just look at MSU's roster. It is loaded.

Why is that after 6 seasons under tubby?

MN has nearly equal talent to MSU this season, in my book. Perhaps a bit less, but not by much.

Coaching.

Please.

What were you saying about MN roster prior to big 10 season tipoff?

I usually really like your optimism but c'mon. There certainly are some here who are your typical bandwagon fans but a majority of people have been fans through a lot of tough times.

I agree, but it isn't fair to judge Tubby against Izzo.

Wait, are you serious? Other than Trevor, who do we have that's a better individual player than Gary Harris, Keith Appling, or Adriean Payne? Rodney is a better athlete, but considering he still has no jump shot and can't move off the ball, I don't know why you would argue that he's better.

And I never said we weren't more talented than Wisconsin, because we are. However, as always, Wisconsin exceeded expectations. They'll finish with 6 conference losses and wins over IU on the road, Michigan and Ohio State at home, and a sweep of Illinois.

Austin Hollins and Andre Hollins are just as good as Gary Harris and Appling (before Austin went into his slump). How much better would Andre and Austin be in an Izzo led offense? Probably miles better and they are already pretty darn good.

Thank you. That includes football too. I have a lot of gopher gear and I will continue to wear it. Anyone with a half a brain can see a change has to be made.

Who the hell has been coaching RW for the past 4 years?

That's pretty much solid Gopher bias talking. Gary Harris is one of the better freshmen in the nation (http://www.mlive.com/spartans/index.ssf/2013/02/espn_analyst_michigan_states_g.html).

And there's this: http://www.mlive.com/spartans/index.ssf/2013/02/espn_analysts_agree_michigan_s.html

You want Tubby fired because the team didn't meet your ridiculous expectations (that much is blatantly evident).

There's only so much you can do for a jump shot. He's a better shooter than he was early in his career and moves off the ball better, but he's still not particularly great at either.

What he has become is a great defensive and open-court threat, which is why he'll get an NBA look

And Andre Hollins is being projected as a possible lottery pick as well.

What ridiculous expectations? I expected us to beat Nebraska, Iowa, Purdue, Northwestern on the road, and Illinois at home. I expected us to beat teams we were better than. Why is that so ridiculous?

10-8 in conference, IMO, isn't "ridiculous"

+1. Ridiculous was my assertion that we could get to 14-4 this year. However, far from 10-8 being "ridiculous" expectations, if we went all the way back to when we were 3-0, coming off wins against Illinois, NW, and MSU, and someone had said "I think the team finishes 8-10 this year", they would have largely been accused of being a Tubby basher and not a real fan.
