*** OFFICIAL GOPHERS/LEATHERNECKS IN-GAME THREAD ***

I don't get why on 3rd and short our DBs are playing 10 yards off their WRs.

I don't get why that happens on ANY play, save maybe 4th and 15+. Folks, you are seeing the same bad team that we saw in weeks 1 and 2. The predictable offense that can't move anyone. The predictable defense that relies on college-level athletes to make mistakes like drop wide-open passes. These schemes are terrible. Still waiting for the coaches to "open the playbook". If this is "not showing our future opponents what we want to do", can we stop that now?

That's a rhetorical question, by the way.

I agree... I mean UNLV & NMSU are some of the worst teams in FBS & WI is a FCS team that only won 3 games last year & we're struggling like we're playing Wisconsin...

that is really scary. if we do not improve soon, how do we win 2 big 10 games.

I don't buy the line about not opening the playbook to hide our hand; this offense is still young, inexperienced, and not deep. They need all the reps and practice they can to be proficient, and thus far they really haven't shown it this year.

All I'll say about the QB situation is that if Nelson can't throw and Leidner can, Mitch will take over for Nelson before the end of the year. Nelson has to improve in the passing department and he's not THAT much better a runner than Leidner.

I'm fairly certain both those teams were ranked outside the top 100 last year in run defense for FBS teams.

The Blueprint on how to beat the Gophers' D was laid in almost every game last year, and then again the first 2 this year; and again the 1st Q today - short passes on a lax D and runs up the gut.

Ok.... screw Limegrover! I officially give up on him!

Who's the 3rd string QB? They're going to kill Leidner

Did you see Lauer try to block someone???

Hayes, Pirsig, and Lauer can't be upperclassmen soon enough... Also, why are we running options with Williams? Cobb seems a little better suites for those plays.

Interesting that Nelson and Leidner are similar quarterbacks but the play calling dramatically changed when Leidner went in. Also, if Nelson is out for an extended period of time you better limit Leidners carries Limegrover!!! I don't want to see Streveler in there today.

We completed a nice pass over the middle. Sure hope Limegrower does't make that mistake again.

Running game predictable? Even the dumbest defenses know our rushing playbook consists of a fake to the fullback and QB run or the QB taking a drop step, then dancing around trying to find a hole. If this doesn't fool the cupcakes, it won't fool any B1G team. Do we really not have ANY running backs?

How do you know what Strev will do?

It's official...
We now have a full blown quarterback controversy.

Leidner looking good.

How do you know what Strev will do?

Do you have something against me? You want to burn his redshirt because our top two QBs may get hurt running 60% of the time?? I'd prefer not to. Last year wasn't fun to watch.

Nelson having ice taped to his leg. Not back in for a while. Looks like hammy.

Please. He is getting killed out there doing the ONLY thing that moves the Gophers' offense forward - QB runs. We'll be through about 5 QBs and a few guys who "played some QB in middle school" by the end of the year at this rate.
